Hello,
I was just wondering what some of the stats were for those awarded scholarships? Just to compare and see where I stand. Anything will be helpful, thank you!!!

Top 5% of my class. 29 ACT. 4 varsity letters. Team captain. NHS, NEHS, Model UN, Key Club, Yearbook, and Boys State including positions in all these clubs. 3 high schools and military brat. 4 year AROTC scholarship earned, not won.

I noticed that you listed an ASVAB Score, have you enlisted?

no i have not, i took it through JROTC.

Try not to compare you have no idea what the board wants. Your application stands alone as like all others. Our DD’s application far outweighs our DS who is on scholarship. To that end there is no telling if she will get this.

I and others will understand you wanting to know where you stand among others; however, this is only going to build a self induced stress you don’t need. Enjoy your Sr year, family and friends all will change no matter what journey you take

Cheers and good luck.

THIS^^ our son had almost identical GPA, SAT, and ACT scores as my daughter. They were both 3 year Varsity and team Captains. My son is a natural born leader. As was was written in his 1st eval as a 2LT "he excels in all phases of leadership". My daughter received the 4 year "national" scholarship on the 2nd board. My son ended up getting passed over but was given a 4 year AROTC scholarship directly from Boise State. The bottom line is you just never know. Keep your head up, your stats look great.

For those of you still waiting to hear and for those of you considering the process, it is clear that the awards are truly based on evaluations of the "whole person" and the Scolar Athlete Leader combination. So be sure that you give as much differentiating information as possible in the application. Don't rely on just the numbers. My daughter's grades and scores are not nearly as high as many of the other applicants, but she has set herself apart in many other unique ways. I am very happy to see that the Army process truly looks at all aspects of an applicant's history to make scholarship decisions.

The question was asking about recipient profile. Here are my daughter's stats:

GPA 3.2
ACT 25
A couple of AP courses
Maxed the PFA for push ups and sit-ups and missed the run max by just a few seconds
3 sport varsity athlete (softball, basketball and boys baseball team) with letters every year since 9th grade and several captain positions.
Community and church league sports
Lots of extracurricular leadership (FCA, etc)
Lots of volunteer work as camp counselor/kayak guide and veterans charities
Full time summer work as beachfront lifeguard
Took summer college course at Citadel between jr and sr year
Legislative page for 6 years
Letters of recommendation from state rep, state speaker of the house and US Senator
PADI rescue diver
FAA licensed private pilot earned at age 17
Traveled to first choice school for PMS interview (highly recommend)

So despite the fact that she is an average student and has to work very hard for her grades, the Board did see some things that overcame her less than stellar GPA and ACT score.

DD stats
28 ACT 1230 SAT 3.9 unweighted 4.2 weighted/top 5% of class
NHS since 10th grade and Secretary
XO Bravo Battalion in NJROTC unit with distinction (she attends a military school)
3 time(should be 4 time after this year) ALL State Soccer player, Varsity swim
Two star ranked soccer recruit/ Soccer Captain of both HS team and Club team/6 time State cup Champion at club soccer
Wendy's Heisman state finalist/American Legion Citizenship Award/Top Soccer Volunteer Award for State
Girls State/NJROTC Leadership-Sail Training(earned leadership Aguilette)/USNA STEM/USCGA AIM/Youth State Police Academy
LEAD program/Prom Committee/Science Olympiad(placed 3rd in state), Lots of volunteer work

Her standardized test scores are below what you expect as competitive but she was sent an LOE from West Point as well. I think that USMA (both Academy and ROTC units) value the well rounded person more than the other branches that might be looking for stellar STEM scores.
