Recognition 2018

No word yet but did see the post on Webguy that the class has been recognized! I'm sure they are enjoying their time together now and we will get a call later tonight or tomorrow. Congratulations 2018! Fight to Win!!

Son texted late last night...."Sorry I didn't call tonight. I'll call tomorrow morning. All in all it was the best experience of my life." Happy Mom and Dad here.....6000 pictures on web guy to go through.

This is awesome. Congrats USAFA83GradWife. Congrats to your DD. Congrats to the Class of 2018. ( Notice the "C" in class is now capitalized . . .;) )

I'm also USAFA Class of '83. The only thing that exceeded my own recognition (AKA: "Hell Week") was helping to conduct the recognition of the Class of 1984! I had the honor to be the C3C Wing Cadet in Charge of "Hell Week" for the Class of '84, under the command of the then Cadet Wing Commander, Cadet Colonel Michelle D. Johnson, USAFA Class of 1981, and currently the USAFA Lt Gen Superintendent!

So also congrats to the Classes of 2017, 2016 and 2015 for conducting a successful and meaningful recognition for the Class of 2018.

Thanks! Feels so good to have earned civies again and everything else that comes with Recognition!

Congrats to you, Enlisted_Programmer, my DS and the whole Class of 2018. Falcon A brings up an important point easily overlooked by an "outsider" like myself: congrats to the other Classes, 2017, 2016 and 2015. Their dedication and hard work in this process should not be overlooked. I'm impressed at the change I've heard in my DS since recognition. So happy for DS and the whole Class of 2018. "Fight to Win!"

First off, congrats!
Second, what all comes with being recognized? Which privileges are you now allowed to have?
Thanks! We can wear backpacks all the time. We can wear civies and go off base(in civies) with unlimited passes. We're no longer at attention except when everyone is. We can talk at all times pretty much. We don't have to study for k-tests, greet by cadet rank, name, and job, or walk on the right side of the hall. We can visit all of our friends in other squads and be in our rooms with doors closed after lunch. We can take naps when we don't have class. We don't have to have our rooms perfect just clean and organized. We don't have required items such as 341's, contrails, and staff lists. We do not have to use only back stairwells and can use elevators(as opposed to going back to squad after leg day and going to 6th floor by stairs). We don't have to wear UOD to optional meals(just PT gear)

Wow! This just shows how restricted life as a 4th class cadet is! Do you feel so weird right now doing all of the things that were forbidden? Do you ever find yourself starting to greet someone before realizing you don't have to? Congrats on recognition! You must be SO stoked!

Contrary to popular belief, the upperclassmen are also glad it is finally over. Great job to the C/O 2018.

Remember, it doesn't end here. As life at the Academy goes on, responsibilities and academic workload will increase! Harness the discipline you've learned during freshman year and be the best upperclassman you can be.

Cheesy, I know. . .

Not greeting like I had to, but it feels weird to just walk by and pretend no one is there. Usually "How you doing?" or something of the sort. And yes the upperclassmen are definitely excited that it's over and that's part of why this place will be on a high for a while with everyone glad that training 4*'s for Recognition is over. Not weird really, more just disbelief that it's over so fast. Don't get me wrong! It wasn't so fast before getting here.

From now until June.... what, 25th? are some of the happiest days here at "USAFA State U." Enjoy! (Actually, for the red caps, June 25 is arguably going to be the happiest day since Recognition. For the yellow caps... not so much.)

Also - Zamps, way to go. I enjoyed seeing you work together, sweat together, and succeed together, all three days. You earned it!

The yellow caps ...I'm assuming the new Basics since the c/0 2015 are yellow (gold) caps?

Yep... also, my Contrails definitely says that 2011/2015/2019, etc., are yellow classes. ;)

Cadets are back into the swing of things.... Last few days before the needed spring break. DS said it was a tremendous experience...also heard that there were a few sprained ankles, knees, missing teeth and a couple of concussions...ouch.

Oh, dear! I guess after BCT ends everyone loses the "bubble wrap" mentality!
