Hello! First, I want to say how glad I am for this forum. So much helpful information.

I have a question regarding when the recommender receives the link for their submission. Is it when the email address is entered into the application? This is what I originally thought as the counselor received the link few days after the address was filled on the application. But the math teacher hasn't received any mail from the Navy although it's been almost two weeks.

Or are the recommenders contacted after the submission of the entire application?

    Thank you.

I'm a mom who went through this with her son, so that's my intell on this subject, but i'm fairly certain its all at the same time...as in your math teacher and counselor should have the same request. For sure it was required before the entire packet was considered complete, and went before the review board. Did you math teacher tell you he/she hasn't received the request? Make sure they check their spam folders. Or whatever filter could be in place. The people doing all this are just that: people. So there very well could be a typo in the email address, and your math teacher hasn't received the request.

We struggled greatly with several changes in recruiters, and subsequent loss of stuff that he teachers/counselors had filled out. And I read of that happening to others on the forums. DS/s teachers/counselors had to fill them out I believe three different times. It was frustrating. But when a recruiter changes, DS's trail stopped there with that recruiter. It was a big relief to finally have it SUBMITTED for that very reason!

Good luck, and follow up is my advice!

+1 to justdoit with emphasis on the spam folder. That's so often the problem when someone "didn't get" the email. If it's not in the spam folder then it's time to contact Cadet Command to have the issue addressed (whatever that means in this case).

Thank you for your responses! The recommender said it's not in spam. We'll contact the second recommender and see if she received it and take it from there.

FYI - at DS's school, the counselor and his teachers could not receive emails from NROTC (went to spam filter) and they could not access the NROTC web site (due to some ridiculous security on the school's servers). This was NOT the case for USNA (go figure?). DS and his teachers/counselors had to go to a local coffee shop to access a less secure internet access in order to send in his NROTC recommendations. This was, of course, on the final day before submission to the first board and it was, by DS's account, an amazing cluster.
