Has anyone received there recommendation from the senator yet and if not what dates should they receive this by and what date would you know if you was selected for West Point?

Do you mean “nomination”? And do you mean from any MOC, not just a senator? If so, nomination slates from MOCs are due to USMA by 12/31. From there, it’s up to West Point to decide if you were (not “was”) selected to receive offer of appointment. Most offers go out in February-March, but some can come as late as April or even May. Does that answer your question?

If you are talking about the nomination, usually they don't go out at this point in time near late October yet. Many congresspeople's nomination application deadlines aren't due until early November. Then many congresspeople have to conduct interviews and spend more time reviewing the packages. Usually nomination don't go out until late December to early the following year. Depending on your congressperson, its possible, though rare for nomination to happen before November, however.

I disagree completely with s-xuer. The spread of MoC nominations is so great that the only stipulation of the whole process is "has to be submitted to the academies by January."
For example, my Senator had his interviews back in SEPTEMBER, and will be announcing interviews THIS WEEK.

Kansas man, I don’t believe you can “completely” disagree with s-xuer.
S-xuer simply said “many” and “usually “, not always and every. There is a big difference!
And the last line in that post was a final disclaimer as well.

In my DS’s case, he received a call from MOC on a Sunday night in November asking DS if he still wanted to go to WP. DS replies most definitely yes!
MOC said we’ll get you there!
After hanging up, we totally wondered what that meant. The following week he received the Principal Nom.
So I can say that not all MOCs operate the same regarding their timelines, notifications or slate procedures, but they all must be completed and sent to WP by the same deadline in January.
I can add that after reading these forums, most
Candidates seem to wait longer than others for any news of any kind!

^^ I agree. OP never indicated where they are from, so impossible to know where in the NOM process they are. MOC who conduct interviews usually do them all at one time and certainly not BEFORE the window for submitting a NOM has closed in their area.

My DS got one nomination from our district representative around mid December. And the other two senetors's nominations in January.

Correction to a previous post here: MOCs have until January 31st to notify USMA of nominations.

As for when you’ll hear back from your senators, I have no idea. It varies from senator to senator, state to state. For example, a current plebe I know got his senatorial CT nomination mid-October last year, before I had even submitted my applications, and my senators posted their nominations for me ON January 31st. See if any previous posts have specifically addressed the TX senators.

Hat tip to @usmajy re nomination due date. I’d put down 12/31 as the deadline for MOCs to submit to SAs, so I stand corrected.

I have a Senator interview this Saturday and the following Saturday with the Congressman. Still expecting a call from the second Senator. In my state all the applications for nominations had to be submitted by 12th October. Surprising it is that they started sending out emails with the interview schedules. All interviews on Saturdays and for 15 mins.

Congrats. Which state are you from?

DS just received and email for his senator interviews. Both senators on the same day and place. 30 minutes with each panel and a 5 minute break in between. At least they made that a bit convenient!

Texas Senators released nominations right around Christmas timeframe last year as I recall...

Hello Everyone,

Just curious, is it possible to find out if my MoC has how many vacant positions at a particular Service Academy? (I am not sure I am using the right wording.) What I meant to ask, for example, if my congressman has a vacancy at the USAFA then only he will be able to fill that with his nomination. Right?

^^ Probably better to start a new thread so the comments don't get all jumbled when talking about multiple topics.

Lots of older threads about NOM's. Each MOC can nominate 10 individuals for each opening they have at an SA. Where the SA eventually charges the NOM may be different then where issued, so it isn't a 1 for 1 process.

each MOC can only have allotted 5 at an academy any 1 year. It’s anyone’s guess which year the cycle is 2 chosen for an MOC. The liasions would know. And when slates are posted if there are 20 instead of 10 you will know 2 spots are open that year.
