Hi everyone,

I have a question about letters of rec for college students. I know that we are supposed to obtain new letters of recommendation from college professors. However, my school has a very stringent Core program for students that prevents them from choosing classes for their first two semesters. This resulted in me not having an English class this semester.

I DO have a Intro to Theology class which was designated an Eloqeuntia Perfecta class, which means it has a special emphasis on writing and public speaking. I'm confident I could receive a good letter of rec from this professor as well.

Any suggestions about what to do in this situation? Thanks.

I suggest you call/email your Regional Director, explain your situation and ask his/her advice.

Well, I emailed the RegDir last Friday, and have yet to receive a response.

Any advice about what to do next? Is there a number I could call?

Yesterday (Monday), was Columbus Day and according to the USNA calendar, there were no classes. This might mean that your RD did not have to go in to work yesterday (I know the banks, post office and state government offices were all closed). I would give him a few days to get through all his emails that came in on Friday and over the holiday weekend.

Sorry, realized that wasn't clear....I meant 2 Friday's ago...so it's now been 6 "buisness" days since I attempted to contact him.

I was speaking with someone in admissions last Thursday and know from our conversation that several of the RD had been traveling during the past 2 weeks.
Have you spoken with your BGO? That should be your first step; they can put your question into action.
