Greetings all. I look forward to meeting new and experienced parents over the next four years and sharing in the celebration of this humbling and incredible honor.

Does anyone have any recommendations for quality accommodations at a reasonable rate outside of the immediate West Point area, but within a 10-15 mile radius? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

God bless. #GoArmyBeatNavy

Newburgh area North. Nanuet, Mahwah to the South. Slightly over the 15 mile limit but an easy drive to and from USMA.

Congratulations! Go Army!

We stayed at the Inn of Bear Mountain Inn for R day- nice accommodations, historic has a restaurant and scenic. There is also a lodge and cottages. Relatively close and a lot cheaper than Thayer Hotel. Only drawback was a lot of visitors to the park during summer but after 5:00 seems to clear out.

Its been a good 3 years so far- Go Army, Beat Navy!

The Hampton Inn at Woodbury Common is right over the hill, reasonably priced. Stayed there for R-Day for both of my cadets.

BTW, Garrison and Cold Springs have several Airbnb’s

Cold Springs is one of our favorite places to stay, eat, etc

We did Nanuet for Rday, lots of restaurants and convenient to the giant mall. Did Fishkill for Aday. Far enough for DS to feel away from West Point but still close enough to be convenient. Doing IHG West Point for Plebe Parent weekend to be really close.

R-Day. Get close. Just get a place to rest. You Cadet Candidate probably won’t sleep much anyway. Early rise, stand in line, “You have 1 minute to say goodbyes”. Wander around West Point. Washington Hall doors slam shut. “Please leave.”
A-Day. Probably something farther away. Maybe an Airbnb with a pool?

"Wander around West Point........in a daze!!"........We stayed in Fishkill for both. Only issue was that the Cadet has to be back on Post late, (they can't stay over with you on A day weekend, they go back to Post) so the drive back from the Academy to Fishkill, after a long day, can be an adventure. Probably a 35 -40 minute drive. But it's a nice area. DD fell asleep at every possible opportunity, so a nice bed is a must, let em sleep!

This is slightly off topic, but does anyone know what the restrictions on cadets are for A-day? If a cadet lives relatively close to USMA (~20 miles), would he be able to go back home for the day and return at night? What time do cadets generally need to be back by on that day?
