Registering for SAT and ACT

I am heading to the Prep in july and I was wondering if at the Prep it is mandatory in taking the SAT and ACT. I was just wondering because BCT ends in August, which is close to the date when my congressman and senators application's close. Will there really be enough time for me to earn a good score before than?
