Rejected End of the Line

Us too , glad our DS has some great plan B schools to pick from. Heartbreaking to get so close, he's been aiming for this since 7th grade.

It's hard explaining to parents who haven't done the process. They don't grasp the whole appointment thing with states and districts and slots...

Best of luck to all.

Give your DS a good long hug and do not let go.

Same story here last year. Sr. Awards ceremonies and graduation was really hard. DS even had well meaning teachers say to him,"I thought you were going to the Naval Academy?" I think unless you live in a "navy town", most do not get what you have been through at all. But all of us on this forum do, and we all know your DS will do great things! He already has. God bless!

TWE here today, too. Have a great plan B in place and still tweaking plan C. Scholarship to Citadel is looking good! Best wishes to all!
Can you tell me a little about Citadel and the application process? What scholarship did he apply for? My DS is currently a Junior and we're thinking of taking a trip to Charleston to visit Citadel. He just came back from a CVW at USNA and of course loved it however, I've learned from this forum to hope for the best and expect the worse. Need to have MANY backups. Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Citadel seems like an amazing Plan B. Congratulations!

I took DS to the Citadel last spring before the hamster wheel of SA/ROTC application process began. We were really impressed. We spent time with a number of the ROTC admin officers and they were extremely professional and helpful. I would also encourage you to look at VMI as well. We toured it on our way back north and my son then made it his #1 choice behind USMA. He has ultimately received an appointment to USMA but would have been delighted to use his AROTC scholarship at VMI or the Citadel. Good luck to your son.

DD going to USMMA!! We are so proud of her!! Plan B is VA in-state/ROTC.
Dadx4 - I started reading this thread and I was very sad, as I continued to scroll the posts I became happy.....this emotional roller coaster is killing me. I'm sorry your DD did not get into USNA, but CONGRATULATIONS on the USMMA appointment.

For all of the others who received the dreaded TWE I am sorry to hear the news, but I have no doubt that you all have what it takes to succeed. Good luck to everyone.

The bad news came for my DD today.....read the email at school. She waited several hours to let it sink in before contacting me. After telling me the bad news she said "I'm going to accept my ROTC Scholarship to Drexel University today." Good luck to everyone who is still waiting, and congratulations to all that received appointments.

So sorry for the bad news, but what a great alternate plan and, what a great attitude! Best of luck to your DD! Sure she will make a fine Naval officer.
