Rejected End of the Line

The bad news came for my DD today.....read the email at school. She waited several hours to let it sink in before contacting me. After telling me the bad news she said "I'm going to accept my ROTC Scholarship to Drexel University today." Good luck to everyone who is still waiting, and congratulations to all that received appointments.
Glad to hear she had a great backup plan. She sounds like she'll do well. Good luck to her.

I was rejected by USNA today and I reopened an app for next years class. Total time between rejection and prelim sent in: 25 minutes. Looking back on it, I am glad that I'm a little relieved that I was rejected, i'll be attending UNCC in the fall for Chemistry (Calc 1 and 2, Phys 1 and 2 and Chem class that first year) so I will be much better prepared for the Academy, my biggest fear was wanting this dream for myself for so long and then failing out because it had been a while since I had a chem class, and my highest math was college pre-calc. So i'm happy to get some time to prepare, still waiting on USAFA, but time to go ahead and march forward with Plan B. Would have loved an appointment or prep/foundation offer, but being able to prepare will help me hopefully go in there an be able to coast through some classes with ease. I don't think I would fail out but why take the chance.

This is a SUPER attitude. You will be so happy with the extra year! All the best to you, ramrod!

If only they had an NROTC unit it could be the perfect situation. Keep working hard and best of luck to you.

Boy! am I conflicted. At this moment I feel:
  • Sadness for each DD,DS, and family who've invested so much in the appointment process with a TWE at its (immediate) end.
  • A little guilt. Our family didn't have to go through this waiting game.
  • Up-lifted. So many smart, motivated, athletic kids whose desire to serve drove them to this Service Academy Admission Process. Mom's and Dad's who built that work ethic and patriotism into their children. These great people dealing with a big set-back, take the time to wish others success and discuss "Plan B". D**N! I wish every single one of you were my next door neighbor! I wish your DS's wanted to date my daughters! and your DD's could be life long friends. I have more hope for the future than I had 1/2 hr ago!
My absolute BEST to you all today. I celebrate so many impressive kids, and the EFFORT they put in. Knowing kids like yours are out there somewhere makes me feel better about the future of my own-----REALLY

Appreciate the post, Just Dad. I, too, am impressed with the highest caliber of individuals on this forum.

Agree with everything else except this line...

Do your daughters agree with you? Maybe you were using the recently legalized product in the Everygreen State? :topic:

I didn't ask-em. The one headed to USNA goes 5'10/152. She will drop to 6-7 lbs when her season ends and show up a rock hard 145-7 for PS . She'll bang off 8 pull-ups and beat you up in a fair fight right after. She's pretty, smart and has a great sense of humor......................... She'll also has a Dr's certainty that she is always right (Mom) and a Lawyer's willingness to argue the point as long as it takes for you to see that she's right (Dad).

H*ll, I wouldn't date her! WAAaaaay to much trouble.

I have, however, fantasized about my first conversation with any boy who gets serious about her. I don't know if you can insert a link on this board, hope this works....
.Dustin Haufman plays my role (with very little modification to script)

(its 90 seconds long)

"recently legalized product" ------------- I have no idea what you are talking about.

He's saying they are quality young men, the kind he someday hopes his daughters bring home. No smoking pot necessary to translate that one. Nice sentiment.

Thanks EOD/SEALmom. She just wanted to hear back from them one way or the other. I have another kid coming through the pipeline who's a sophomore and wants a SEAL slot out of USNA. How hard is that??? Probably VERY competitive. I just respect the SEAL/EOD community so much. I used to jump squares with EOD/SEALs at Elizabeth City Airport in VA.
38. One from West Point makes it 39. The number was up this year. I believe the last few years have been upper 20's
