Rejection from USNA 2022

DS just received the TWE from USNA. (no worries though, 4-yr NROTC scholarship in hand and freshman year of college, tier 1, almost complete!!)
Good luck to all those still waiting and those released, fair winds and following seas!!

TWE from USNA here as well. Fortunate to have recently received both AFROTC and NRTOC scholarships.

Bummer of a day. Sorry for those who have received a TWE. Take some time to gather yourselves then jump into your Plan Bs. You will do great things regardless of USNA or elsewhere. Enjoy the time left in school and have some fun.

For those who got waitlisted. It’s another wait. Continue with your Plan Bs, stay in shape and if USNA comes calling, jump at it if that is what you want.

VA-04. DS just got the TWE at 10 am today. He seemed relieved to know one way or the other but of course was disappointed but he said now he can focus on his 4-year NROTC Tier 1 scholarship at VMI. He said he is still going to re-apply to USNA. Good luck to everyone!!!
GO NAVY, BEAT ARMY!!!

Just waitlisted. Not sure how to feel about that

You should feel pride.

~1300 Appointments are out. They will take ~1,150. ~100 on the waitlist. All out of ~16,000 applicants. I believe these numbers are accurate.

You were among the very best applicants...be proud. Well done.

Soldiergriz, just trying to understand your numbers, and if you were not trying to be that certain or specific, I get it. Are you saying there's probably 100 on the waitlist and some number of those might ultimately receive an appointment? Or 100 could get in from the waitlist from some larger number? Again, not trying to pin you down because I know there are a lot of uncertainties - but trying to figure out the speculation. Thanks.

Soldiergriz’s numbers are correct. In the waitlist FAQ the academy sent me, they said they have offered 1300 appointments and expect 1155 to accept. Also, they said that between 70 and 120 people have been put on the waitlist, not all of whom have accepted their spots yet. If the number of people who accept their appointments by May 1st is below 1155, they will look to the waitlist. However, they and I cannot say how likely that is.

P.S. thank you Soldiergriz for the kind words!

OK, thanks. And I assume those on the waitlist are ranked, so you could be first off or 120th off (and you would not know where you are on the list)?

TWE, unfortunately. Still waiting on NROTC and one college. So right now Plan C (Rotc college programmer) at a great engineering school. And I’m expecting a re-app. But this weekend we’ll just turn our hopes to NROTC.

(We finished all apps, DODMERB, ROTC etc in Sept & October, nomination in November. So yeah... we’re getting good at waiting!)

I don't believe the waitlist is "ranked". Perhaps those that get pulled from the waitlist are all qualified and will fill in the geographical differences if this becomes an issue if some of those appointed turn down the offer.

Is this correct?

Wow. You were qualified. Tough break, as I'm sure there were many less qualified (BUT QUALIFIED) that will be admitted. Geography, race, sex, athletics, and more play a part. I don't blame you for being disappointed. Looks like they let a good one get away.
