Remaining NROTC Boards

Pretty sure CAPT Meyers has mentioned when they should be out. The ADM has been traveling and has to be briefed before they are released. He mentioned that either in this thread, or another one with a similar topic.

So, here is my son's crazy situation... everything was submitted easily on time for last board. Yet, his packet is incomplete. We've contacted his district and they are working on it... the chief who was doing his stuff went on leave right before the board, then some other E5 took over, and nothing was completed. His teacher recommendations and college navy interview are missing from Netfocus... both teachers confirmed they did the recommendations months ago, plus he did his interview at University of SC. I'm sure they would of submitted it properly. SUPER FRUSTRATED.

OK, waiting till Monday and see if they have an update on his packet. They have a master chief working on it now. Said he "counseled" the other two who dropped the ball.

Any advice?

Some of these reports are starting to sound very familiar. I think you are within the Raleigh Recruiting District but can't remember off the top of my head.

I believe there are only 1 or 2 boards left for the standard CNSB folks so there isn't a lot of time left.

My question would be if you or DS have emails from the recruiting office that basically admit the mistakes were on their end? I don' t say this to imply they won't be honest but it is honestly going to take that admission of fault to get the package into the next board.

If the officer interview was done at Univ of South Carolina, was it done by the PNS? I ask for 2 reasons. 1....if the PNS did it, he almost certainly submitted the interview himself rather than using the recruiter which would show the approximate date the package was ready for submission. 2nd reason is that the PNS will normally review the package for completion prior to the interview. I have made applicants log in to the netfocus portal in my office to show me what is left to be done.

If the Master Chief can get the deadline waived in this case (31 Jan was submission date for applicant's essays and 15 Feb was the deadline for Recruiting Offices to complete additional paperwork submission) then there is a chance.

But short of that, there isn't a lot that can be done short of writing to a congressman and asking for help. For the people who score the packages on boards, there isn't much they can do if the package never got there.

I wish I had better news but I don't want to provide false hope. The South Carolina PNS might be able to work something out.

Quick clarification question on school changes -is it presumably possible to transfer your scholarship between schools After accepting it? (i.e., we finally got the letter in the mail and its deadline for acceptance is only a week off, when the choice won’t have been finalized yet.)

Thanks!

DS just received the email awarding him an NROTC scholarship. Portal has not been updated, so not sure at which school it was placed. He also received the offer of appointment to USNA last week, so the decision time has arrived.
The emails come out early, and it can take a few days for the website and portals to update themselves. Normally, the goal is to send people to their #1 choice. Depending on the unit, you can check with their freshman advisor to see if their reports have been updated.

Congrats again! If you dont mind me asking when did you submit the application?

Howdy..I’m hoping someone on this thread can help explain part of the ISR process to myself and to my DS. Captain Meyers, the experiences you share and the insight you have of the process is always appreciated and welcome. I posted on a previous thread and was satisfied that a selection was coming soon. That did not happen and my concern and angst has me posting again. My DS was awarded a ISR offer in late December. His NetFocus portal status still says “no decision has been made on your application“. We where under the impression that the ISR award was a commitment that he would receive a 4 year scholarship. We understood that his application would be sent down to NSTC for review, and that an email would be sent to him to accept the Offer. Has anyone else had a similar offer or experience. Did we misunderstand what my DS was awarded or offered. I have let my son handle all of this ROTC stuff. It’s his opportunity and his future and I’m confident he can handle the application and selection process. I’m having some concern now, maybe we did not understand what an “ISR” is and is not. Could it be that he has been selected as an ISR alternate? I see on this thread some applicants have been reviewed by the board but have not been awarded or denied, they assume they have been put in the alternate pile. Is this possible for a ISR recipient as well? Very little information is available about the ISR process. He has talked with his NTAG recruiter. The PO told him he would be reviewed on the Feb 7-11th board. No change to his status, no email received. Is the ISR the golden ticket we thought it was? Thanks in advance for helping one father out that is beginning to freak out. The process is so opaque, and two months of waiting for something to change on a web portal is a lifetime in my business. I appreciate all you parents that share your experiences.
My son received an email yesterday from his NTAG recruiter confirming that NSTC had approved his ISR. Thanks everyone for your timely posts. Capt. Meyers, thanks for your accurate and pertinent information. It’s been helpful and reassuring as the whole process played out. Best of luck to everyone still waiting to hear back from the board results. Looks like from the list my son was included on that 69 of the 110 ISR have been officially notified to date.

Very glad it all worked out. I knew this was resolved a few days ago but I promised to let the normal process work itself out. I sometimes here my friends tell me.....Meyers! Get off of those forums. Just makes me start a new thread 😁

As many are posting today that they received an email regarding their NROTC scholarship, I have to wonder if my son's file was ever submitted. He completed his initial application in late November/early December, and his interview and PFT in January. My son has emailed, texted, and called the recruiter several times since January to ensure everything was in order but he never received a response back. His portal still says it's 'at the recruiter for processing' - see attached image. A few weeks ago he checked with a friend that also applied for the scholarship and his portal showed the same thing (he had the same recruiter.) Is this normal or did their files never make it for review?

Those screens look like they are from the NETFOCUS portal but I can't be sure. From what I see there, nothing appears to have been sent forward to NSTC. Was this for the standard NROTC or something else? You can try contacting the NTAG to see if they have a status. A few on here have had to do that to get an update.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, the screenshot was from the NETFOCUS portal. He is a marine option NROTC applicant. Would that make a difference in the portal status?

It could make a difference in so far as the Marine Board jist recently completed I think. I have almost zero visibility on the Marine process. But that netfocus screen capture shows a lot of missing items. It makes me wonder of the recruiter left that office before submitting the package. I hope I am wrong.

That's what I am afraid of too, especially since he has not returned my son's calls or messages. Would we still contact NTAG for the marine option status?
