DS had his status update this morning to Remedial requested. I'm assuming for his previous fractures at 10 and 13 years old. But not sure.
I see people posting that they see the code on the site? But in the FAQ's it says they mail you the letter.
Any help for this confused mom? Thanks in advance!

If you view status any codes will be listed.
To the left there is a link to a list of codes, remedial and DQ

@CaliNavyMom You will receive a letter via US Mail about one week after the portal is update indicating the same information. Because we check the portal daily, we were able to get a jump start on the AMI (Additional Medical Information) requested and had it to them before the paper letter showed up in our mail box.

Also do not hesitate to contact your DoDMERB technician, contact info on the site.
They are very helpful

I wonder if since it was just done they aren't showing yet? It only says Remedial Requested, no reference codes anywhere.

UPDATE: I called DODMERB and found out its NOTHING to do with DS...METS didn't send the 2492 to them. Called METS and they are sending right over.
Breathing a sigh of relief and thanks to you guys for the call Tech suggestion!!

No - that is not what an LOA is. An LOA from USNA is a Letter of Assurance. It states you will receive an Appointment if you successfully complete the remaining items listed on the checklist included in an LOA. LOAs are rare and hard to come by (though I think they are more common than USNA admits but officially they are quite rare). USMA has what I believe is called a Letter of Encouragement which means your application has been viewed as very favorable, but it is not an LOA. Pretty sure LOA for USAFA is the same as an LOA to USNA in terms of definition.

Just because you are 3Q with a nomination does not guarantee an appointment. I think statistically at USNA the odds were still about 50/50 or 60/40 that being fully qualified would lead to an Appointment for USNA 20/20.

The majority of Appointments won't be generated until the February - April timeframe.

There are examples (though few) of candidates with LOA's not receiving a Nomination.

My DD was one of the lucky ones to get an LOA last Sept/Oct, but she did not get her appointment until February.

Is there a particular reason you think an LOA is forthcoming?

Oops no, in reading past posts they talk about getting their LOA after they get their nomination so that's why I thought it stood for that.
Honest mistake, regardless need that plus nomination[emoji6]

The terminology can certainly be confusing. Just know that LOA's are rare and you shouldn't expect one (it makes getting one more fun and less stressful). And it is important to note that being fully qualified with a nomination is no guarantee of the appointment. The TWE threads are heartbreaking to see the outstanding candidates that simply lost in a numbers game.

It's a very long game and it is very good to have cleared the DoDMERB hurdle.

For some reason, some folks that had nominations were still given LOAs instead of appointments - usually because they still had something outstanding in their application (normally DoDMERB it seemed) and then those LOAs converted to appointments once the checklist was completed.

If you google Acronyms in the search box on the main page - there is a pretty good list of terms/acronyms and their definition.

Same thing is happening to me. It says "Remedial Requested" however there is no code info anywhere. I tried calling my medical technician but no response yet.

A letter of encouragement is not the same as a LOA. My DD received one early last fall. It just states that they are competitive and all candidates that are 3Q are CONSIDERED for admission. I was told that there were only 2 sent to the entire Houston area. When offers of admission came around, she got caught in the numbers game as our congressman made a principle appointment. She was moved to the waitlist then the TWE a month later. The Letter of Assurance promises an appointment if you meet all the requirements.
