I just checked my status on the DoDMerb site and it looks like it was updated today to

Date letter sent - Remedial(s) with clin Remedial(s) - R240.

I don't see any further details - but I assume they are requesting additional documentation on my childhood treatments for asthma. I haven't been treated for asthma since I was 12 and I believe my medical records show that. Hence, I believe I am ok.

Question - should I consider taking the affirmative step of a having a formal breathing test? Up to now I have been reticent to create unnecessary documentation. But, perhaps now it is time to take that step?

Thanks,

Check the remedial codes on the website. Click on the tab on the left side of the site that says medical codes, and then press remedial codes and scour through the list to see what they need a remedial for.

Thanks yes - Google just confirmed that R240 is asthma. Now - the question - should I make an affirmative effort to get tested? Or is that premature?

My advice would be no. If you have an abnormal finding ( not unusual). You will be more likely to be disqualified. I would request your records. It might be helpful to have your physician document that you are currently active with no restrictions or problems. That is a better indicator than the test. Metacholine challenge, while still listed in standards is not considered a good or reliable test in the pediatric asthma/allergy community
