Hello all,

I am an incoming Class of 2025 plebe, and I was curious about Reorgy Week after A-Day. Will we be scrambling and switching companies (CBT to AY) this year? What all happens during this week, and what is to be expected? I've heard it's hectic and hard and I just wanted a heads up on what goes on, so any info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
An Anxious Plebe

My feedback is a bit dated, but typically when you return on the day of the March Back from Lake Frederick, you will receive your academic year company assignments. I don't know how they actually execute that today, but in my time they formed you up into your new academic companies and marched you into your new company area. To the best of my knowledge, your academic year company is not connected to your CBT company. When I went through many years ago, Beast companies were aligned with the regiments. So for instance, Alpha and Bravo in Beast went to First Regiment in the academic year, Charlie and Delta went to Second Regiment, and so on. I don't think it is like that now. Reorgy Week is very hectic, particularly for plebes. You are moving in to new rooms, getting prepared for the academic year, drawing books, learning new names and chain of command surrounded by three times as many upper class as you were during Beast. Everything moves at a bit of a frantic pace ending with the A-Day parade on Saturday morning.

You will be assigned to a new Company after CBT. You have a new Old Grad COMM. His philosophy will be mixed in to your R-Day BEAST experience. No one yet knows what his philosophy is though. Everyone there is just now overcoming the throes of COVID. Many things will not happen because of COVID, and yet, there are certain things that always happen. You will get your phone back, you will be assigned to one of 36 companies and your barracks. Your Cadre will look after you. There are not many choices that you get to make. Therein lies the stress. It is meant to be that way. You'll be fine.

I am only sorry that you will not get to meet the nice Cadet in the Red Sash.....

I have heard those Red Sash cadets are indeed extraordinarily nice. Thoughtful. Impactful. Excellent communicators.2487C6B7-FFD4-4DD6-BFFE-36C4392DC73B.jpeg

Wildest stroke of luck, (Or not...) Our new Cadet was caught on video reporting to the Nice Red Sash Dude. Shot down in flames.... Eventually got to the Company though. First thing we saw after we left on R-Day. Thanks to Patton's Tavern for ALL the help that night.

What?? They're removing it??

Reorgy Week is when you get assigned to your team leader & get set up in your room for the academic year & learn the ways of your academic year company--you normally don't scramble it is that CBT companies fall into the regiments that align with the platoon--so that if you are B3 during CBT, you will be in B Co., 3rd Reg during the academic year. During ReOrgy week, you have to be escorted everywhere (hair cut, picking up your books, the C-Store, mail room) by your team leader. Also, you will get your cell phone back so you can arrange where to meet your family after the A-Day parade and just get caught up in general. You also do a lot of parade practice for A-Day. It goes pretty quickly.

We did mock R-Day when Capt America was a rising Cow and the Baby was rising junior in high school, I had to report to the Cadet in the Red Sash 4 times...he was someone that I knew in Capt Am's class. We were both laughing so hard. To the OP, don't laugh!

Last I was informed they were going to stop the reporting to the Red Sash Firstie. I believe that it was a temporary thing though. I was told this by an angry Cadet using very foul language. This is all certainly subject to change.

I think that’s a great exercise in finding your composure under fire. Not physical either. Except for presumably armpit sweat pumps in overload.

I am happy that I went to USMA when there was no internet or cell phones. Nobody had much of a clue of what they were going to experience during beast or any of the rest. Parents were clueless and only knew what their cadet told them on the short calls from the pay phones in the basement of the barracks. We all got to experience it together for the first time.

I also still remember the Cadet in the red sash I reported to during beast 25+ years ago. Fun note: this Cadet ended up becoming a Rhodes Scholar.

That was my point in post #3 above. I know the shock of actually experiencing the event cannot be felt until one gets there, but some things should be held as sacred until it is experienced. The Navy CPO initiation has changed radically in recent years, but I can't imagine a Chief telling a slug, or selectee, the things they are about to endure.

These days mom and dad watch their kids go through their daily routines in real time it seems. Hopefully the live streaming web cams stop at the door of the head.

FYSA. Historically, your beast company and platoon will determine where you end up. For example my 2020 grad was in Golf Company, 3rd platoon during beast and all of his Golf Company, 3rd Platoon mates ended up in Golf Company, 3rd Regiment. Same for the 1st, 2nd and 4th Platoon mates...they ended up in 1st Reg, 2nd Reg and 4th Reg. Also, a roster is going around that shows the beast company/platoon assignment for the Class of 25...

As a several time Chief's Initiation defense counsel and from working alongside selectees, I got to see a good amount firsthand and would never tell newbies what to expect.
.
Similar to why I would never tell any slimy polliwogs anything more than "Prepare for the wrath of King Neptune!"
.
I actually would love to have a Polliwog Parent" pop in as they would certainly get a warm welcome from King Neptune.

Once I got my reporting and travel orders to OCS, I called my officer recruiter with questions. He just laughed and said “you’ll be fine.” And I was. Eventually.
I ran into him again when he was AIRLANT’s senior pilot of the plane they used to fly the admiral around, and he put me on the manifest to hop from Rota to Sigonella. We had a good laugh about it.
