I recieved a letter earlier from The National Society of High School Scholars. Should I put things like that on my resume or does it even matter?

i didn't, but i was also national merit (which i did put) and i didn't want to fill in too much. it might count for something though, so i would if i were you.

I received an invitation from them too. Are you joining it? I'm personally sort of skeptical of it.

I'm gonna talk to my guidance counselor about it monday and see what he thinks of it first.

It's actually a scam, I already asked a guidance counselor about it. But the letter looks so nice doesn't it!

They send these letters with anyone with a GPA over 3.something

Legitimate organizations typically do not charge you to join and put your name in their book...just my opinion. :thumb:

Yeah, the teacher who runs National Honor Society got this nice certificate and everything from them. It looked good until they asked me for $60. Not to mention they offered a free graduation rope and a pre-stamped payment envelope.

At first what lead me away was the fact that they sought me out.

I joined...know it was kind of expensive but I decided because I'm looking to be an NSHSS Ambassador at my school (leadership) and attending member events, they have member scholarships, chance to be a member of the NSHSS Student Council (leadership), and more.

Back in my day, it was "Who's Who Among American High School Students". Same gimmick.....pay us and we will put your name and picture in a bound yearbook. I didn't bother.
