I just received my ACT scores. Unfortunately, the composite was still the same at 30.

Third Time:
Composite-30
English- 29
Math- 35
Reading-27
Science-28

First Time:
composite 28
English 28
Math 31
Reading 27
Science 26

Second Time:
Composite 30
English 30
Math 31
Reading 22
Science 33

Should I retest? I seriously believe I can do better than a 27 in Reading!
I have taken over 10 practice tests and usually get into the 30-33 range for Reading.

Your ACT scores are very respectable as they stand, but if you feel you can do better, go for it while you have the time! The primary concern is going to be your math scores so that is where you should focus. Have you take the SAT's? Sometimes students do better there than on the ACT's. You know better than anyone else when you have done your best, and that is what you should be shooting for. Best wishes.

Navy2016 has a 35 on Math already, not much room for improvement there--Navy doesn't look at Reading, they look at English and Math, so for Navy, they are seeing a 35 and 30, not shabby. However, the other service academies look at all of the scores and composite, but pretty sure they superscore the composite, meaning your composite would be pulled from the 35 math, 30 English 33 Science, and 27 reading. If you truly feel you can improve, retake it, it won't hurt, but I would concentrate on reading and English.

I have done SAT and find the ACT to me advantage. At this point I am convinced to go ahead and take it again since I believe i can make significant gains with the reading and hoping get the 36 in Math.

I just took the ACT in February for the first time...here are my scores.

Composite: 29
English: 30
Math: 29
Science: 28
Reading: 28
Writing: 26

I was surprised to have English as my best score, because that is generally my worst subject, and Math is usually my best. I was dissapointed when I found out I only had a composit 29 today, but I got reminded by several people that it was quite good for a first time with the test. I also got a 35 on the Math part of the PLAN test, missing a 36 by one question, so I know I can get a better Math score.

I am definitely going to take it again, as I was in an immobilizer sling(shoulder surgery) for this one, and feel that without the distraction it provided I will do better. Plus the fact that it was only my first time taking the test. You can never tell though.
