Hi guys. I went to summer seminar in June and when I took the CFA, I did pretty badly. To give you the exact scores

forgot to list height and weight

when I took the CFA at summer seminar
height-5'5
weight-119 lbs

pull ups-9
b ball throw- 32 feet
shuttle run-10.0 seconds
sit ups-55
push ups-25
mile-9:52

after three months of intense training and hard work, I took it again today and got these scores

height-5'5
weight-132 lbs

pull ups- max
b-ball throw-59 feet 10 inches
shuttle run-8.6 seconds
sit ups-92
push ups -max
mile-8:31

Are these passing scores? Thank you

I'm certainly no expert on this, and USNA keeps the cards on "what passing is" pretty close to their chest, but your improvement is in the right direction.
Remember that the CFA is just one part of the equation. If you are good in all the other areas, they are likely to say "yeah, we can work with that", when it comes to the CFA score.

The only advice I have for you is to get more miles in and try to get that mile time down.
The military in general is all about running. It is a fairly perfect workout, in that it takes time to do a 6-mile run, they don't have to to issue any special gear for it, and you're out of their hair for 40 minutes or so.
You can be sure that you won't do less running when you get there, and you'll keep on doing fitness assessments after you get there.

I am pretty sure the BB throw is designed just to mess with your head, so don't sweat it. Nobody throws a BB 107'-0".

Thank you for your input. I really appreciate it!

Benjamin, I am not affiliated with any academies, I am just the parent of a candidate for USAFA, and I don't know if USNA has a different threshold for passing the CFA. It looks like all of your scores are pretty decent (average or better) by USAFA standards with the exception of the mile run time. Your preparation has done you well. However, I have seen other USAFA candidates get a failing CFA for mile run times that are better than yours. You really need to get sub - eight minutes, I think. I have seen 8:12 miles, for instance, that have triggered an automatic CFA fail and request for a retake. Work on getting a mile run time that begins with a 7, at least. Having said this, though, the threshold may vary depending on how strong the rest of your profile is. I have heard from others on this forum that the threshold of passing can vary depending on what else you have going for you. Best wishes.

I am still working on my CFA scores as well so what do I know? But I tend to agree with the previous poster that you look good but should work on your mile time. However, I cannot get over 58' on the bball throw so you have me beat there! Good luck.

pull ups- 15
b-ball throw-58'
shuttle run-7.6 seconds
sit ups-max
push ups -max
mile-5:40

Scores are excellent other than mile time. You've greatly improved but really need to be under 7:30.

Not sure how heavily they consider the bb throw, but I know baseball players that hit the back wall of the gym... lol

You went from 9 pull ups and 25 push ups to the max of 18 and 75 in four months? Fantastic!

Can you share your training regiment? Frequency, etc?

Congratulations on your improvements. That mile time however, needs work. PRT's are 2x per year. Max time allowed is 10:30 for a mile and a half.
I personally know mids who have been separated for not hitting that mark.
Good luck

I saw a personal trainer 2-3 times per week. Would start off seeing how many I could do and then do exercises to get strong in those areas. For example, dumbbell press for push ups. Assissted pull ups using an elastic band, throwing a weighted ball, pull downs, sit ups with a weight on my chest. Even on days I didn't go to the gym, I worked at home. Whatever it took, just made sure to exercise every other day.
