Return for the Class of 2023...?

'23 is starting the return to the Yard. DD is in the first wave on the 17th.

Sad to lose her, but glad she gets to return to her Company, teammates, and the welcoming embrace of Mother B.

Also the cost of her return ticket is only using half the credit we have for her ticket from March. :)
The Supe has his “Young-stars” of the Class of 2023 and they will do their part in the overall plan. Young-stars are like young fleet LT’s (the best rank in the Navy) or the spontaneous third child. They keep things real. No more chopping or squaring corners or yelling “Go Navy” or “Beat Army” for them. As a Young-star they can now dreamily say “Go Away” to their roommate as they dose off into that Young-star afternoon nap. “Beat Army” is now reserved for after the singing of Blue and Gold. The Brigade without Young-stars would be like a wardroom without LTs. Boring!

Good Luck '23 for a great Young-star year!

Great analogy, but would say that the Second Class Midshipman are closer to the Fleet LT. The typical Youngster is still kind of finding his way with the new found freedom, and in some ways are kind of anonymous in the Hall. By Second Class year, they have a little salt (at least for Midshipman), pretty comfortable with the system, and have enough experience that they are taken seriously (up and down the chain of command).

Agree 100% that the best job in the world was as a Fleet LT. At the squadron level, once PQS and all available qualifications were done, life was great!

On my first ship, Senior JGs and junior LTs, once SWO qualified were exempt from OOD Inport watches on duty days but too junior to stand CDO so they stood the nebulous "ACDO" which had few actual duties and the expectation of significant Rack Time during most duty days.
