I am reapplying for West Point Class of 2025. Is reusing my candidates statements from my previous application show laziness even though my answers are basically still the same as last time? I am writing another essay to answer the questions but just curious.

You already know the answer to your question.

I would assume re-applicant essays are compared against the first cycle submission to see what growth has occurred, new insights have been gained, additional perseverance demonstrated, personal maturity developed, challenges overcome. If your essays are the same ...

Do as much as you can to improve your application and then work that into your statements. Since the statements didn’t draw their interest the first time why would you want to write the same thing.

Repurposing content with new insight (i.e. with what CaptMJ said) can be a direction you take. But like @DDmom said, if it wasn't powerful to begin with, going back to the drawing board could be an opportunity to make your application stronger for next time.

If i were to reapply as a college applicant, would I need to have my SAT's re-sent by the college board or would they still be in the system under my name as an applicant?

Is there a way to schedule a time with Admissions to walk through your file piece by piece so you know where to focus efforts on improvement?

@BobSanderz
Your SAT scores should still be in.

@okboomer for the most part, no.
Your team will most likely not walk through with you piece by piece as they don't want to give an unfair advantage to you over other applicants. However, they might give you a broad generalization but it's not going to be more specific than what you already know the main categories that admissions looks for in the application in the first place with academics being the most important factor, followed by leadership then physical.

I was directed by my RC to not change a thing about my personal statements for "everything was fine about them". My RC advised not to, so unless you feel you should or you have something big to add, then they may be just fine.

Do you think retaking them would give you a greater score? That might speak volumes on your re-app.
