One of the greatest politicians in recent times passed away yesterday - former Mayor Ed Koch of NYC was 88. IMHO he was part of a sadly vanishing breed- Politicians who say and do what they think is needed rather than blindly toeing somebody elses line whether it makes sense or not. Mayor Koch had the CIB from his service as an Infantryman in WW2. His self written epitaph is a pretty accurate piece of self assessment on how he lived his life:
He was fiercely proud of his Jewish faith. He fiercely defended the City of New York, and he fiercely loved its people. Above all, he loved his country, the United States of America, in whose armed forces he served in World War II.”
RIP Mayor Koch.

What sad news he was my mayor for several years, he was personally responsible for hiring me. I am retired today with a million stories from a successful twenty year career because of him. My family has benefited from his benevolence and concern. He was truly a great man amongst men and a trail blazer. A personal Hero. Goodbye Your Honor. My children and their children are and will be successful because of your vision of fairness. Thank you for a chance.
