RIP Sean Connery

Before this degenerates into the Battle of Stirling Bridge, let’s step back and understand that the Scots have much to be proud of and their stirrings for independence are something of a cry for recognition. The nation that produced Braveheart later gave us Adam Smith, David Hume, the King James Bible, universal public education and a Church governance structure that served as a model for the US constitution.

They tend to be a bit testy as explained by James Webb, USNA Alum in this book:

Before we canonize the guy, he's the same one who thought it was okay to slap women around. Times have certainly changed for the better.

He will always be the only true 007 in my mind. Waiting for someone other than me to be old enough to remember Sean Connery in Darby O'Gill and the Little People, still a staple at our house every Saint Patrick's Day. Who knew that he could sing so well!!

To me, he was the one and only James Bond (although ANYBODY knows to never shake a martini). I know he ended up despising the role, but I'm sure any actor enjoys not being a starving actor...

Absolutely.

Texans have an admirable history, too, but are better off being part of the USA.

Quebecois have much to proud of but are better off remaining with Canada.

And Scots should, in my opinion, keep their British passports, the Queen & the pound sterling. Much of Scottish history that they are deservedly proud of happened post-1707 union with England.
