There is an option referred to called Advanced Standing. There is a small stipend each month and an offer of a commission upon graduation but no tuition payments. I have about a dozen Midshipmen in Advanced Standing status right now.If he doesn’t get the scholarship is there still an option for him to stay involved or is he out of the program?
Is this the case with the 3 year sideload as well? How many applicants and acceptances do you reckon there will be this year? There is a sideload board which wraps up this week. Then the results get reviewed for process compliance and a legal review. Then it is briefed to the Admiral and results are promulgated.
I would think the results may be out next week but the hardest part is finding white space on the Admiral's calendar since Recruit Training is in full swing during the summer.
As a separate issue, there will be very few 2 year sideload scholarships offered this cycle due to some complicated accessions math.
Hello I'd like to know about the issues discussed on other threads. Are you able to elaborate or point to the other threads so I can review myself. My child is also waiting on a result. Thank youJust a quick update on the 2 year sideload scholarships. And this is just for the 2 year.....the 3 year results won't be out for a while.
Due to issues discussed on some other threads, there were no 2 year sideload scholarships offered this year. A number of applicants will be offered advanced standing status, but it will take a week or so for those results to be promulgated.
Not the best of news, but I felt the sooner people know, the better they can plan.
The main issue centered on allowing the rising 3/C to apply for 4 year scholarships this past year. This caused a higher accession rate than desired and the only place to make up for that was in the 2 year sideloads. There will still be advanced standing opportunities but no side load scholarships this year. The official word will come through the NROTC units in the next week to 10 days.Hello I'd like to know about the issues discussed on other threads. I hope you don't mind but I have one other question pertaining to this news...does the scholarship board determine who gets offered the Advanced Standing offers? Or do the NROTC units at the individual universities decide that? thank you!Just a quick update on the 2 year sideload scholarships. The scholarship board decides the Advanced Standing status. The PNS for each unit ranks all the candidates from their university and each candidates GPA, PRT, and proficiency scores are factored in.I hope you don't mind but I have one other question pertaining to this news...does the scholarship board determine who gets offered the Advanced Standing offers? From my readings, it seems like in recent years sideload results have been released in the first week or so of August. Do you know if they will be out by the end of August?Just a quick update on the 2 year sideload scholarships. And this is just for the 2 year.....the 3 year results won't be out for a while.
