Rockaway

Thank you. Yes, perspective was much needed. I'm so glad that everyone is okay.

I have a friend whose DS is set to graduate from Basic Training within the week. I can only imagine the thoughts that went through her mind when she saw this news. It is a small comfort to know that they train so hard for situations just like this. Knowing her son, I bet he is wishing that he could have helped.

The pressure of waiting for news for my DS is definitely a hard thing, but you are right that this pales in comparison to what those Coastie's went through. As a former Coastie, I can tell you that you train for certain situations regarding your own lifesaving measures, should the need ever arise, and you pray like heck it never does. I can only imagine what they were going through and glad everyone was safe.

There was no reason to have a 25' in 14' seas. There will be some tough questions in the future for the folks involved.

When I saw this on the news the other day I had so many questions, LITS, thanks for answering my biggest one!

I got ya. Was just thinking that seemed very odd to me, but not my area of knowledge, so was hoping I might hear some input from those more experienced in this area.
