Roller coaster II: Get Me (The Parent) Through Plebe Year Class of ‘25 🎢

I don't understand why -- only a month from being a youngster -- all those plebes did something so dumb.
The word from DD the firstie is that the Brigade is still trying to shake the after-effects of the Covid era — the laxness, skipped rites of passage, softer standards, cavalier attitudes, and so forth. It apparently hit 2024 the hardest, with some trickle-down effect on 2025.

She says that many mids haven’t been fully indoctrinated, or haven’t fully bought in, or both. “Some of them are just playlng dress-up,” she says. Admittedly, she’s a bit of a hardass, but I’m guessing there’s much truth in what she says.

When does class of '25 create their class crest? Looking to buy a challenge coin made from the copper off of the Chapel Dome. However they only have the coins with '21-'24 crests.

We finally got to talk to DS last night. Despite being very sore and tired, he is content and ready to move on with only Herndon left. He was slightly dismayed at the early morning briefs that seemed overly repetitive.

We look forward to seeing him on Saturday.

Don't Give UP the Ship!

They are overly repetitive because:
- They are not testable material, thus, nap potential for sore and tired mids, phone social media time potential, etc. Ask me how I know this. Universal military truth.
- Every year, there are conduct cases relating to mids not doing what they were told, claiming “no one told me this.”
- The eternal hope that with repetition of boring but necessary material, some of it will sink in. I always said “if we could just gameify it…”

We lucked out Wed 2000 hrs. Our DS answered the phone, and turned on his camera from his rack in a darkened room. On a 1-10 scale, he gave Sea Trials a 5 and only complained about a wrenched back during a later evolution. He, too, is grousing about the 'mando' briefings while scrambling to get intel on Block 1's Yard Patrol tour.

BTW, this morning photographer Larry Thornton posted a public-facing, Sea Trials 2022 sample photo album -- https://www.plebesummer.com/p894836088

Hi Heatherg21 - can you share where you purchased it so I can be on the look out for next Christmas? Thanks!
Shoot I don’t recall but I know it popped up on a parent Facebook page and I also believe via the alumnus association email (you can become a member as a MIDN parent).

Arrived in Annapolis at 11:15 am this morning. Hit the Midshipman Store to pay that tuition 😂, watched formation, grabbed DS, spent more money at the Gift Shop, renewed DBIBS card, ate lunch, then Amish Market.
At hotel now enjoying my chocolate covered bacon, and delicious warm pretzel…❤️

Planning to swing by Walgreen’s later 🍻 🍷 🥂 🥃

Warning: the Midshipman store is fully stocked and then some! Should have wore blinders 🫣

Because sometimes, a ton of USNA gear still isn’t enough. 🤗
Pro Tip for Class of 2022 -- If they still sell jersey's with your Class Year on it...buy a few ! I would kill for the old '85 jersey I had. (Another pro tip, buy in increasing sizes, as they tend to shrink when stored away over time).

Seriously, Mom and Dad should stock up -- you may never get back into the Midstore! I was about 10 years between graduation and my next visit, and I had some stuff that was pretty threadbare. (I had a USMA sweatshirt, won on A-N game bet, that I wore for about 20 years; last few years it looked like Bill Belichick when I cut the lawn).
