Roller coaster II: Get Me (The Parent) Through Plebe Year Class of ‘25 🎢

I wasn’t sure about a blond rough around edges not conventionally handsome guy. First look at himself in bespoke tux in Casino Royale? Sold.
Agreed. I think the roughness adds to the attraction. The stories will endure as long as the locations and gadgets continue to shine. The next Bond will hopefully live up to the franchise standard.

Gal Gadot for Jane Bond!!! I think we threw this one out there before, and brought all the Gadot fans out in the open.

Or Regé-Jean Page!

Overall great weekend but sure was packed. He was able to relax Sunday, but by Monday morning he was anxious again due to "last minute" Chem assignment due today and Alpha inspection. Coupled with those items was an ECA that was going to take him off the Yard for most of day after we dropped him off and he was sure no sleep was in his future. I have not heard yet how Alpha went---or perhaps it is still to come.

And the ride continues....DS forwarded a Brigade wide email explaining the food issues at KH. The supply chains issues and worker shortages are hitting the Brigade right in the stomach. DS has said there are many meals with no fresh fruit or veggies unless you are the first couple hundred in the door. Also stated that the meals have been on repeat several times a week and may only be boiled chicken and a starch.

I truly believe the KH staff is doing all they can to provide nutritious meals and am in no way placing this on the KH leadership. Two examples of the issues KH is facing were given in the email:

1. Food is mainly prepared by outside vendors and trucked in daily. However shipments are arriving late or not all due to driver/worker shortages at those vendors.
2. BBQ sauce shortage is caused by the fact that KH orders a low volume compared to other food service vendors (i.e. Aramark) thus the distributors are favoring the volume orders over KH orders.

Are other SA facing the same issues? How about other civilian schools? What about other military bases?

Why hasn’t anyone called Janet Yellen or Jerome Powell? They have tools to address this. They’ll put a package together, the House will approve, Biden will sign, and the checks will be in the mail.

The Punch bowl will be refilled, the Stonk market will go up, everyone will be Happy, and Nothing will get Fixed.

You kill me :)

So during Covid plebe year we mailed our 2024 plebe all condiments we could acquire. I don’t eat out often but when we did we accepted all offers- cutlery, napkins, salsa, condiments, various bbq sauces. Husband bagged by type in ziplocks and off they went. Made mystery dinners edible.

Wow the passage of time has seemed to quicken:
  • FOUR months since leaving Annapolis and my DS behind for PS'25.
  • 12 week exams (although really only week 11 of AC).
  • Fall Parades completed
  • FB 2/3 of ways complete with N@ND this weekend!
  • Turkey day leave in 23 days!
Unbelievable. Even DS remarked that he cannot believe he is 2/3 through his first semester. To me the rollercoaster has seemed to smooth out as a Parent. Definitely still an uphill battle for DS and he still has struggles but more positive news than negative. He talks more more about "buddies" and more often than not his phone calls are shorter and shorter and get interrupted by said buddies coming to report some sort of news. He enjoyed his first Halloween and has already enlisted his Midsib to start working on costume for next year!

Be prepared when they come home for Thanksgiving or Christmas, or both.
They will dread going back.

After a couple of years, they will look forward to going back and will already be there mentally a day before they leave your house.

Happens at civilian colleges as I recall the same feelings back in stone ages when I went to college.
