Who can give me details on this? My DS is in the process of trying to get in USMA but also has a ROTC 4 yr to A&M. He has talked about concurrent enrollment also. Does anyone have any advice?

What do you mean by concurrent enrollment in this context? It normally refers to one who is in high school and enrolled in college courses at the same time. It seems odd for someone, who is presumably a high-school senior, to be considering concurrent enrollment at this point. I'm guessing you mean something else but, in my ignorance, I cannot fathom what that is.

I think I understand. My daughter is in the same situation. She is waiting to hear from USMA and USNA, but received the 4 year AROTC scholarship. There is a deadline to accept the AROTC scholarship. If they accept, does it end the bid for USMA or will it automatically be rescinded upon appointment to the academy? Mine is uncertain as well.

Accepting the AROTC scholarship is non-binding. This is common as it has a hard deadline. Accept it, and later if you decide to instead attend a SA or other branch ROTC then I suggest providing a direct courtesy call to the ROTC unit to let them know and that is fine. Opinions on this board vary on whether you should accept more than 1 ROTC offer concurrently - I'll leave it at that. Good luck and hope that helps.

Accepting an ROTC scholarship offer will not affect any SA application. If you are awarded an ROTC scholarship , then later receive an SA appointment you can always switch plans.

Concurrent enrollment. Army ROTC and the reserves or national guard.

I think your use of Concurrent Enrollment in this context is confusing. You don't enroll in the reserves or Guard, you usually enlist (unless you have college completed) and can definitely attend college while in the Reserves or Guard. There are programs out there (I believe) for reservists and guard members to help pay for schooling, but it is not what normally would be called Concurrent Enrollment. Concurrent Enrollment would indicate to most that you are enrolled in High School and College at the same time, or are doing two Grad school programs at the same time (concurrently).

Ah, thanks for clarifying. The Army minuteman scholarship offers concurrent participation in reserves and ROTC. It does not offer a path to active duty as a standard. It offers a path to the reserves. Please see other posts on the limitations, challenges of that program. And if you look into it, ensure you take a "sign nothing" approach for the candidate until you fully understand what that program is, and is not. Hope that helps.

According to the recruiter he will do a weekend a month and some summer but instead of doing a typical job he will shadow an officer. I just remember recruiters when I was in school and they liked to tell you things that were not actually possible.
