Is there anywhere to post in your ROTC portal that you are already medically qualified? I see many of the ROTC scholarship winners who have not been medically cleared as I guess it's not a must prior to receiving the scholarship. Should the ROO at your intended schools be aware of your clearance?

you do not do DoDMERB until you have been awarded a scholarship.
you must be qualified by DoDMERB or have a waiver granted before receiving the scholarship

AJC - Do you mean qualified by DoDMERB or have a waiver granted before 'activating' the scholarship or contracting? Receiving might be misunderstood as offered.

before receiving benefits related to the scholarship.

If you are already DODMERB qualifed, then DODMERB will send the qualified physical to the school that you attend in the Fall.

Mohawk
who tells the schools ROO about waivers being granted? DoDMERB or the waiver authority?

ROOs/HRAs eventually see DODMERB status on the DODMERB website, and sometimes it gets posted in CCIMM. Until late summer we don't have a complete picture of incoming freshman's DODMERB statuses, so it's up to the applicant/scholarship winner to manage their DODMERB. I used to be able to get more information out of DODMERB, but they have pushed back and refused to release information to us until you are on our campuses.

And as we get closer to the start of school we are going to be looking for those approved and waived DODMERBs. If you are approved/waived we will have that info before contracting day. Remember that every Battalion does things a little differently, so your mileage may vary...but if you are coming to Clarkson I'll be on it like white on rice before you get here.

So if you let the ROO at the school you applied to know you were medically cleared, and let them know you were already accepted to the schools, would that affect the 3rd board?

No, as they are all separate and independent processes. The only thing that affects scholarship award is your board score and location on the OML.

DoDMERB will schedule you. You'll need to complete the physical right away but the entire process could extend past the start of school if there are remedials or waivers involved. If all id OK I'm sure it will be complete prior to the start of school.

@MohawkArmyROTC In the case of receiving a scholarship, when do I need to complete the DODMERBS? Right after the notification or before the start of the school year?

As stated above, you should complete it as soon as possible. If there are no issues, you will get qualified within a month or two of completing your appointments. If you need a waiver or DODMERB requests remedials, that can drag out the process. The scholarship does not start until you are contracted, and you will not be contracted until you are DODMERB qualified and can pass the APFT.

My future AFROTC det. Commander wanted an update on my DoDMERB status after it was passed (after being awarded a scholarship). Just my own personal experience with the process.
