I have an American, Korean dual citizenship. And i want to apply for the rotc but as korean citizen ship I have to serve in the korean military. So my question is can I go to the korean military by having a loa while I am applied to the rotc.

You'll most likely have to renounce your Korean citizenship to join ROTC/get a scholarship. The reason for this is that the government wants to have full faith in one's allegiance to the US. While the US and South Korea are very close allies, they are still independent nations and have their own interests.

You were the first to assume the OP meant “South” Korean dual citizenship. There is that other one on the far side of the DMZ. But I’m pretty sure that you are right.

Lol you think North Korea is a possibility at all?

Do you want to participate in ROTC to commission as an officer? If so, you must renounce your Korean citizenship, which excludes you from service. I also assume that serving overseas regardless of the relationship between Korea and the States is always a red flag.

Also, if you are going to renounce your Korean citizenship, it's important that you also notify the Military Manpower Administration at the consular office or embassy. They have a liaison officer at each one and it can help you when you visit family or whatever in Korea. One of my cousin's friends was arrested at the airport because he was still marked in a government database as someone who had not fulfilled their service yet, even though they renounced.
