How many people currently find themselves or their kiddos still waiting for decisions of colleges that they’ve applied RD to due to waiting on service academy apps? Should’ve pushed harder on EA decisions at schools sooner but had already missed most of the VERY early Fall ones due to pushing hard on service academy apps. Daughter got an NROTC scholarship and won’t find out a decision anywhere because most RDs at schools she’s applied to can get back as late as mid March. Uggh.

Anyone else out there have self-inflicted (or service academy inflicted) RD waits for colleges outstanding?

All my regular decision colleges got back to me already ( The Citadel, UTK, etc..)... that is odd that others have not

Did you apply to your home state Ivy Vanderbilt? That one seems to be high up on her list for applying her scholarship. Their admissions and all her others all seem VERY COMPETITIVE but I guess that’s a good thing at least as far as she’s concerned.

Thanks for the reply. She’ll continue to drum her fingers. LOL

Waiting here too, but DD was intent on EA apps for backups and received admission to decent schools with NROTC/AROTC. Applied to some RD schools too, but waiting on academy apps. Once USNA and USAFA decisions are posted, things should pan out fairly quick. If your daughter hasn't already, she should consider updating admissions officer at RD schools with NROTC Scholarship and make sure she reached out to all the RD units.

Yes, and a few of my classmates did too. We have heard back from admissions.
It just gives her that much more time to weigh her options with all her acceptances and scholarship offers (silver lining :) ). Vanderbilt RD announces mid March, a little before the Ivies, I think. ED2 will come out in a couple weeks. They don't have rolling admissions, so the only folks who've heard so far are those who applied ED1. If she filled out their scholarship app she may hear something about that sooner, or so I've heard, but not sure if that's entirely true. Good luck to her!

MiamiRedksin….Ohio? My DS accepted there for Mech Eng and has NROTC scholarship. Any thoughts? We were there last year for graduation and he actually got up and went to NROTC commissioning ceremony.

None of my kids' 7 schools had EA, so he's waiting through no choice of his own. A couple were rolling admissions and one did get back early though. However, this wait isn't self-inflicted it's just the choices didn't allow for EA.

Daughter interviewed for her scholarship there and loves it at Miami but the fact that both her parents graduated from MU and we are a rather close sub one hour away seems to have dampened her enthusiasm. Her mother and I are kiddingly convinced (sort of 😬) that we’ll never see her again following her departure to college. Miami is just maybe too close by to make her big break away from us so she’s probably looking elsewhere. Granted we really have no idea what goes on in her head as we can’t get a read on her as she’s holed up in her room studying, at track practice or working.

Very few people know what a beautiful campus Miami is unless they’ve actually been there. The setting is idyllic and what most people envision what a college campus should look like. I am envious of your son. So many amazing memories there and such a good school! I’ll stop.

Good Luck!

That’s at least heartening you’re not responsible for the wait. Her SA apps and various ROTC apps took so much time! Just found a list of schools that issue the most rejections and my daughter’s choices litter the list. We’ll see how it goes. Patience is a virtue I guess.
