ROTC Board Selection - Make a Difference?

Hi, I am just starting my application for ROTC scholarship. (ARMY) I understand there are three different deadlines (Board Selections), and that the first one is October 7th. I actually don't know if I'm able to complete my entire app/interview before that, but I might be able too.

I heard that submitting your scholarship for the 1st selection increases your chances of getting accepted because they view it again for the second and third board. On the other hand, I also heard that they only look at your application once. I'm wondering the validity of these statements, as I may possibly try to speed my application before the 1st deadline if there's an advantageous boost.

Should I try to make it for the first board selection? (Perhaps sacrificing application quality)
Or does it not matter, and I should just wait for the second?

Note: I'm applying as a nursing major; is this major heavily impacted?

Quality is more important. Relatively few scholarships are awarded by first board. Just one man's two cents.

I agree. Your application is only boarded one time. It is not looked at multiple time. Submit your strongest, best application.

OP - my boy hit the gas pedal hard, to get his complete application in, for the first board.

It was strong. Could have been stronger.

He sat through 6 agonizing months, before his nod, on the 3rd board.

Don't be in a rush to get it in fast. Work hard, to get it in, right. If that means 2nd or 3rd board...do it. Save yourself the bouts of crippling anxiety.

Good luck!

they only score you once. The most common advice I see here is to not apply for first board. Especially is you are rushing to apply.
Submitting your best application is best strategy. If that means 2nd board then submit when you have maximized your application points.

Unless you have 1500+ on your SAT there really isn't any reason to rush for the 1st board. As others said very few are awarded on the 1st board and if there is any room for improvement (like in either SAT or the PT test) accumulate as many points as possible. Also, take time to work on your interview skills and prep. They score you once so put together your absolute best package.
