Good afternoon, my name is Kyle and this is my first post on this forum. I am currently 17 and entering my senior year of high school. I kinda wanted to understand the current position that I'm in with how good standing is my application not only to some public university's in Florida, but also for the national 4 year army ROTC scholarship. these are my current stats and if anyone would like to put there 2 cents in to help me on this journey I would very much appreciate it.
My GPA weighted and unweighted are as follows
4.8 and 3.32
I'm taking the ACT this Saturday and I've been studying since my first time taking it I did not do to well.
top 30% of class and over the past three 3 years I have taken AP, Honors, and Duel Enrollment classes and made the Deans List my first semester in DE.
currently on the varsity track team and have been on for one season and got a letter and I have also been to districts; I am also planing on coming back next season as well as being on the XC team.
Just revived the rank of captain in Civil Air Patrol and have staffed at multiple encampments and I've just being selected as a PL for this upcoming one .
I have also been in my schools AFJROTC program for the last 3 years and I'm currently serving as a squadron commander.
I'm on my schools debate team and honor society for and I've revived a honors distinction and have also served in leadership positions in multiple legislative committees.
I'm a member of my city's historical society and work as a museum tour guide.
Ever since beginning high school, I have accumulated over 400 CS hours serving in multiple projects and events.
- Thanks, Kyle

Academics are more than 50% of the candidate score. Do not underestimate the significance of them as NROTC is becoming more competitive every year. Keep taking the ACTs and keep improving. Top 30% is a concern for me, but depending on your school it may be highly competitive. How are your PFT results coming?

Pretty good I'm the above the normal standard besides the run which I'm trying to get down to 6:40 my class is out of 630 students

I agree 30% is a concern. I am not sure about AROTC, but AFROTC would recalculate your wcgpa. They do not use a 5.0 scale, instead a 4.5. That means your wcgpa will drop alot, even more so if your HS uses a variation of weights topping out at 6.0. IE 4.0 for Std, 5.0 Honors and 6.0 AP.

The size of the class does not matter, 30% is 30%. What 2021 was getting at is if 35% of your school goes off to an Ivy level school than top 30% is good. If 0% go, and only 25% go to 4 yr than 30% is not that strong. This is what they meant by highly competitive.

You are missing a part in your post which makes it hard to really give a strong opinion. You state you didn't do so well on your ACT, but that does not give true context. Not so well to somebody could be 30 and not so well to someone else could be 23.

So if you look at it as a whole, your PAR could be really low or not due to all of the factors.

You stated that you are looking at AROTC. There will be another factor and that will be your school choices. Unlike AFROTC, AROTC ties the scholarship to the cadet AND the school. They have limited numbers for each unit.
~ AFROTC could not care if 1 school has 0% and another has 100% on scholarship. The scholarship is tied to the cadet, not both.
If the schools you place on your lists are basically all reaches and 1 match, you may find yourself out of a scholarship.

Your ECs look good, just keep taking the ACT since AROTC super scores. Also take the SAT. Some kids will do better on one over the other. A higher ACT will offset the lower gpa.

OBTW this is an anonymous forum. I would ask the mods to change your moniker unless Kyle is a made up name.

How are your AP scores - ROTC will ask for those. Also, they only look at unweighted, so your GPA there is a little low. That is a large range between your weighted and unweighted. Are those numbers correct?
Good luck!

They are 3s the reason why for the large range is almost all the classes I have taken where DE AP or honors mostly honors and DE
