ROTC/Coming Clean

Just for clarification they don't apply for waivers, AFROTC will request a waiver. The CoC will start the process if they feel there is a need.

I personally do not see them requesting a waiver. I see it like desk drawer leave for AD. You are going to be out of area for the weekend, fill out the paperwork. Come Monday the papers will be shredded. Keep your nose clean and you will be fine.

What I would ask the CoC is one question.
~ How will this impact your support for me regarding SFT?
~~~ No SFT = NO POC= NO COMMISSION
+1 to Pima
I believe that is the likely outcome, but have seen the worst case scenario more than once.
Pima and Oldsalt-
So, If time is an issue with the waiver process, then would it make sense to send a letter instead of waiting several weeks before I see the Pas?
If you choose to disclose your error you need to get in front of your PMS as soon as possible.
This is not a letter thing. Walk, drive, fly at your soonest and have a face to face with the CO. He will be able to give you better advice than anyone on a blog can.
I think you are putting the cart before the horse regarding the waiver aspect. Honestly, I have read about posters acknowledging a one time marijuana use on their DoDMRRB and no waiver was ever requested, they we're given Qs. Again, it something that will be annotated on your file so be honest. Caveat I do not have any ties to DoDMERB or HQ AFROTC, just mpo from anecdotal info.
I do agree with Old salt, this is not a phone call or email situation for many reasons, one that you probably have yet to realize is this is PCS season and because ROTC cadre need to be there when school is in session many take a chunk of that 30 days of leave they earn over the summer....hence, they operate on a skeleton crew and unless you set up an appointment to meet with them you could be leaving a lot of messages in their inbox be it voice mail or email.
Also, think about it from the fact that you have yet to meet them face to face and you are dropping a bomb on them, even if you did meet them at the interview level, they interview a lot of people, no offense, but a large unit could have 200+ cadets, and interview 30+ candidates a year, your face is at the bottom of the pile to remember for them. It would be like contacting a teacher via email before you take the class and say OBTW I had an incident with plagariasm last year....you wouldn't do that would you?
I get you want to settle this issue, but welcome to the AF....hurry up and wait. This will be your AF life. C200 year get your SFT paperwork in, wait four+ months for results. Get selected, hurry up and get the bag drag done, wait again to attend SFT. Repeat for UPT as a 300, just add in TS clearance and FC1, wait until 400 for your base assignment. 400 get your exit DoDMERB and wait as they change your EAD multiple times :biggrin:
~ Just saying this will be your life, it also illustrates one more reason why you want to do this in person....the dets are busy cutting orders for many of their cadets be it 200, 300 or 400.
