Hi all,
My DS is a senior midshipmen currently. He graduates this December and was selected the other day for aviation. He is pretty worried though because he has to redo his flight physical and get a few waivers. His asthma waiver will be no problem but here is the real problem....
He took Celexa his sophomore year because he couldn't sleep very well. He saw a psychiatrist who prescribed it and diagnosed him with other specified anxiety disorder. Approximately 9 months later he tapered off the medication and hasn't needed it since. At the last flight physical he had the flight surgeon requested a full psychological evaluation. My question is what can he expect this evaluation to entail and are his chances of being medically qualified for pilot good?
I should also state that he did tell his officers about taking the medication and they told him to contact the person in charge of that sort of paperwork. He did as he was instructed but apparently the person did not do their job and never noted he was taking the medication. Will this be any hindrance?
