When do ROTC (college) Nominations go out?

When are those selected for a ROTC nom appt. notified?

Thanks!

I recall that we got that ROTC scholarship award about 4 days before the Academy came thru. That would have been about mid-March on the ROTC scholarship, but others did hear earlier. I believe that board meets monthly; could be wrong on that.

My apologies, I thought you meant when the ROTC scholarships went out, not ROTC nominations.

I think the word "nominations" is slightly the cause of our confusion here. (at least mine!) I didn't look at the ROTC scholarship as a "nomination" as much as I did an "award". I usually think of scholarships being awarded after they were applied for. My son applied for the scholarship, as could have anyone, and then was awarded one after being considered through paperwork, interview, etc.

I believe that the OP was asking when College ROTC Nominations for the Academies go out, specifically the Air Force Academy, not about an ROTC scholarship. Two different things.

Correct.

Time out for a second.

Trumpet, your signature line says you are an AFROTC cadet 2016. I am not trying to be rude, but this is something you need to discuss with your Det CoC. I am concerned you are asking it here because that means to me 1 of 2 things.

1. You have not had a one on one yet --- understandable not all colleges are back in yet.

2. You have had one and did not address this issue with the det. Rut Ro Reorge!

Your CoC will be an integral part in this process, coming to him late asking for a nom due in a week or so because you relied on this site for the due date is not going to be viewed in a positive light.

Within the 1st weeks they start offering ROTC jobs to C100's. I am not stating or implying that if they have 10 jobs, but 50 C100's they will give you a job because you informed them of your intention to apply for a ROTC nom., however, they will be able to give a stronger rec since from day 1 they are paying close attention to you for that rec over the other 39 cadets.

Think about it logically. Let's say it is due 10/15. 100 cadets enter with you 8/22, you come to them 3 weeks later 9/15 and tell them of your intention. The CoC has now 2 weeks to gather enough info from his CWC, CVWC, CFC, and anyone else before he can start to write an outstanding rec. Meanwhile, last spring a cadet visited the college, met the CoC and told him that it was between the AFA and their college. He shows up 8/22 says I got the TWE, but I am going for it again. On the 22nd the det is going to start looking at him trying to determine if they will nom him., the hierarchy within the det will be included to watch them, and assist if needed.

Which rec do you think will be stronger?

This site is great, but you are in AFROTC now, JMPO 0.01874 cents, but you don't need us at all for this question...it is right there on your campus. As I said before if you have not informed them yet, and you are at college now, on Monday go to your CFC and ask him how you should go about getting a one on one within your unit for this nom.
