Any potential nursing cadets/midshipman hear anything back yet from AROTC or NROTC? DD applied back in October to both and has not heard anything yet.

Did your DD get a slot in nursing school yet? What is her unweighted GPA?

Yes, DD did get accepted to a couple of pretty competitive state U nursing programs, both with AROTC and one with NROTC, and she has been in touch with the Battalions regarding her acceptances. UW GPA was 3.75 and SATs around 1250 (M+CR), so we figure she was in the ball park. Interviews were real good for Army and Navy, and she is a three team varsity captain (soccer, basketball, and track). Thought she would have heard something by now, but nothing yet. Just waiting it out.

This is the first nursing post I have seen so I had to comment! But i recieved an AROTC nursing scholarship in the first board...my stats were lower though. Good luck to her.

Thanks

Thanks for the post! Congrats to you on your scholarship and best wishes in your nursing career! I was amazed at how competitive it is to even get into nursing school these days, especially at the state universities. DD is awaiting the results of the second board, which from her talks with her ROOs, will probably come out in March sometime.

Thank you! I almost wish I wouldnt have been selected until the second board...with the state nursing program being so competitive, I didn't accept my scholarship to my first choice because I wouldnt have known until March if I had been admitted. Everything has been so crazy lately, and I'm sure it will only get crazier. I wish you and your daughter the best of luck! This forum really does help, my mom and I would have been lost without it

The forum is great. Misery loves company. DD also applied for NROTC Nurse Option and has not heard anything back on that either. Bright side is that all the school acceptances are now in, so when she does finally find something out from AROTC/NROTC, it should be eaiser to make a good decision.

Anyone thinking of nursing as a career and already enrolled in nursing school has plenty of options. You could fund your own degree and and join the medical core as a registered RN. They will give you a signing bonus ($20-$60k) and commission you as a captain.
