My DS just received his BFE for his ROTC Scholarship. The question / confusion is that he has 7 days to return his acceptance and pick his college choice. The due date is 3/6/2021. The confusion is that most of the colleges he has applied to state that they will NOT be sending out acceptance letters until mid April.
The question is: Can he change the college choice once all of his application status are in? OR does he have to chose from one of the colleges that he has already been accepted?
Thank you for any insight.

First, congratulations to your DS.

Second, please specify which service branch of ROTC.

Your DS can easily research this by using a Google search string such as “switching scholarship to another school NROTC (or AFROTC or AROTC),” as I did to get to the NROTC link below. Your DS can also use Contact Us to resolve specific questions. This comes up every year. Good news on the scholarship!

It never hurts for your DS to let his target unit know about the scholarship. At some schools, the unit has a strong relationship with Admissions, and may have some influence.

Read the website/portal that notified you of the scholarship, as it includes information about the transferability of ROTC scholarships. Also see the paperwork that came in the BFE, as it too provides instructions. It’s all there, if you dig into it.

Judging by the 3/6 response date, I'm assuming ARTOC second board winner. Congrats to your DS. Guidance on how to treat your situation is very thoroughly addressed in the "Additional information"/"Accepting Scholarship and Transfer Requests" link in the portal.
