Hello everyone. I am an incoming college freshman with an AROTC Scholarship. I had a few questions about it activating. First, I had received an email stating that the Scholarship wouldn't be activated until " entered the class information into the GoArmy website." I was wondering if this is something I am supposed to do on the GoArmy website or something that the department does? Second, we take the APFT before school starts. I won't have a problem passing it, yet was wondering if something with my height weight ratio was off by a few pounds if that could prevent contracting even with passing the fitness test? Thank you for your time and have a nice day.

To the best of my knowledge no inputting of information is necessary. Contact your schools' ROO to get information. DS was told to be at the athletic field at 6 am to do the AFPT. Once he passed and sworn in the scholarship was activated.

If you fail the weight test for your height you will do a tape test. Buff soldiers usually pass this test, but if you are simply overweight you will likely fail. If it seems like you are in a grey area, time to hit the gym.

Thank you. And is it 20% maximum body fat to contract?

At my daughter's school they had an orientation week, they did a "practice" test during this week, so that they could go over form, try out the route for the run etc. Once all the returning students were on campus they did another practice run and then did the actual test for contracting after being on campus for a week. In her school's case, the financial aid office is well aware of this and told the ROTC cadets to ignore late notices. In her case last year we had accepted the loans because she did not contract until 2nd semester, once she did they returned the loans. This was because she was a 3 year and then upgraded. This year she was told to not accept or decline the loans, if she for some reason fails to pass her fitness test when returning, then she can accept the loans at that time. In other words, ask financial aid. See if there is a person who deals with the ROTC cadets, they should have the answers and are easier to get a hold of in the summer than the ROTC department. Good luck.

GoArmyEd is new this year, so prepare for some growing pains. You can't establish an account until you are contracted, and you can't contract until you are fully qualified (pass PT test, meet height/weight, DODMERB qualified). Your new Battalion are the ones who will tell you how this process will work, because each Battalion will be doing it a little differently.

At orientation they did they that they would not contract until after APFT which I do not have a problem with. The problem that I have is the Cadre told us that they may not see their scholarship monies until November. Does the Stipend get back paid? What about getting paid as an E5 at your unit does it also get back paid or can it be processed once you contract and Goarmyed figures out the rest?
