Just curious about thoughts concerning financial aid and out of state tuition at the Citadel. My son just completed his interview for the national ROTC scholarship and we're waiting the first board and so on to see if he can secure at least a three-year national scholarship. 4 would be awesome. Looking at the tuition for out-of-staters at the Citadel list the tuition to be around $56,000 a year! With a scholarship paying for tuition and fees that leaves us with a sizable bill of $20,000 per year! Does the school offer Financial relief on top of the national scholarship for its Cadets? My son has a 30 ACT score and a 3.5 GPA so I'm not sure that the academic scholarship from the school would be offered. Are there other scholarships that are within reasonable reach? Thanks for any input

My son is class of '22 on NROTC 4-year and made the Citadel Honors program

ACT 32 | GPA 3.9 | 5 on the AP Calculus Test
Eagle Scout with National Level Train the Trainer with the BSA

He was initially in the Leadership Scholars Program and then offered a position in the Honors Program at the end of Challenge Week.

You'll likely get at least a few thousand in financial aid just because. It seems to me nobody pays list price for college. There are scholarships available but it's quite competitive. There are several Scholars programs - STEM Scholars , Leadership Scholars , Education Scholars and a few others. These programs not only give money but are an enriched program on top of what you already get at Citadel.

If your son wants the Corps or Cadets program AND an Army Commission and money if tight look at University of North Georgia it's a Senior Military college.

Thank you so much for the input. He is staying overnight with the knobs this Friday. If he at least gets the 3-year scholarship we will definitely find a way one way or the other of making sure that the Citadel will be his choice!
