I thought I remember a post on this site that said it was ok to keep your ROTC scholarship until after summer training for a service academy. I’m 💯 percent committed to the Naval Academy but as a spring athlete I am also aware I could get injured and not be recovered in enough time for summer training but able to recover in enough time to report to ROTC. For example I pulled a hammy and it took 6-8 weeks before I could put much weight on it. If that has occurred a few weeks from now I could potentially not be ready for the SA but could recover in time to report to college for the ROTC.

Our team has a good chance to win states and I didn’t want to sit this season out as it would lessen our ability to win. I know I’m taking a risk by playing my sport but I’m trying to ensure I have all the facts before I make any decisions. Thank you!

As noted, ROTC scholarships can be a great insurance policy leading up to I-Day/R-Day. But that policy is cancelled once you swear in at an SA.
