One of the sports to select is weight training, powerlifting and fitness/wellness what do they mean by this? I’ve been working out consistently for about 4 years now and am in pretty good shape. Do all of these mean just personal athletics outside of a league or school sport??

I’ve been lifting consistently for 4 years and saw on the application it says “weight lifting” as a sport option and was wondering if that is personal or does it need to be apart of some “league” or something or could I qualify to submit that ?

Some high schools have competitive weight lifting and powerlifting teams that compete in league competitions. Also there are international amateur powerlifting organizations where individuals compete. Bench, deadlift, squat.

Personal workouts aren’t what they’re looking for. But if you do these things competitively, then good to go. They’re looking for a varsity-like experience, in which you’re subjected to meaningful competition and are expected to show determination, perseverance, resilience, grit, perhaps teamwork and leadership too.

I know that several ROO’s told my daughter to list any “races” she competed in individually. She ran 10k’s regularly and also participated in a little relay up in the PNW called Hood to Coast. They did not say to list “runs a lot”, so hopefully that helps.

Also, I don’t know about the wellness part, but “fitness” is a competitive sport. Not the kind at the gym, but the kind where you compete against others with a routine.
