Rotc scholarship plus school scholarships

In Jan I received a preliminary award for financial aid from my #1 choice. I am still waiting to hear about a ROTC scholarship, but I got an updated award from my school, which is 6K less than the Jan preliminary award on Tuesday. MY EFC did go up 1k.

The school has not returned my calls. I was told by the PMS at the school that often times the school knows first about ROTC scholarships.

If you got ROTC award, did you still get financial aid from the school? Was it reduced?

depends for what it is for.

For instance, academic scholarship where you got a certain score and a certain GPA, you are guaranteed that scholarship. At least the school I will be attending.

It really depends on the school though.

rotcapplicant is right, it does depend on the school. My son's NROTC school gave him a sizable "leadership" award, which is what they give to athletes they are recruiting. When word came through of the ROTC scholarship, the school told me they will take the leadership award away and replace it with a special ROTC room/board scholarship that will cover everything that the ROTC scholarship doesn't ,except the mandatory laptop. The school stated in the leadership award letter that any scholarships would be coordinated so that the combined award amount cannot exceed tuition, room, and board. Other schools cover just room but not board, and still others don't cover either room or board.

There is often a special person in the admissions office who handles ROTC scholarship coordination. Did you try that person? I wish you the best of luck getting that scholarship!
