ROTC scholarship transfer

I'm confident that you are correct and that, even though you received the mail after the deadline, if the transfer request is addressed promptly that they will attempt to honor it.

Anyone transferring a scholarship if you recieve word do not be afraid to notify others in this thread. some found out around this time last year

If one accepts an ROTC 4 year scholarship but then hears back from WP that he/she got in, is the ROTC scholarship binding? Also, does Fort Knox get the DODMERB from WP or is that something my DS needs to forward to Fort Knox?

Thanks!

For an answer to your first question, read this, especially reply #23 and #24:

To help on the second question. If you have already completed the DODMERB (and qualified) for USMA, there is no need to take it again for AROTC. It will show up on your portal at some point.

I'm just wondering how everyone is processing their paperwork.
After sending your notification of intent to Ft Knox do you wait to see if acceptance changes on portal before you proceed with a transfer request? or do you just send another email with transfer request documents? Does anyone really know when approvals or denials will go out?

DS spoke to school that he hopes to transfer too. The ROO reported that the deadline for transfer has been extended until May 10th because some folks didn't receive paperwork until later. Has anyone else heard this? Any thoughts are most appreciated, to me it sounds unlikely that DS will know an answer by May 1st-if the 10th is accurate report. Just planning to gather funds to put another school deposit down in case the AROTC transfer doesn't work out in time or at all. Starting to lose hope a bit.

Just received the paperwork yesterday (dated 10APR arrived 21APR).
Am assuming that he will send his acceptance and his transfer request basically simultaneously, but am having him check with the gaining ROO before he submits anything to get his advice.
The letter wasn't very detailed as to the transfer process, WRT what they want in the letter other than "please transfer my scholarship from school A to school B because I wasn't accepted at school A."

Yes, my DS sent a brief note requesting transfer from A to B due to no getting accepted at A. He also sent copy acceptance and copy of rejection letter. Good luck!

My DS was awarded a 3 year to three schools, his friend to one school. Friend requested transfer and it was denied.

What would be a reason to only get one school listed?

Not sure when. DS told me yesterday afternoon. I just thought it was odd that his scholarship was only good at one school.

Might be due to OML, (wasn't competitive enough to get awarded all schools) or just the other schools already had spots filled (money issue)

I just want to hear about my transfer request... It's interesting to know that people have been notified already

Keep in mind this is just from DS saying that is what his friend told him. So, I am assuming it is true. Have no adult confirmation.

What your ROO said tracks with what DD was told about the TARGET NOTIFICATION for transfers being shifted to 22 May 2015. The email for CC also said "We understand that you are awaiting a decision and will process your request as quickly as possible."

So they said they will try to have notifications out by today?

It was actually odd to see some get offers to more then one school, often the by the third board the offers are limited.

By the third board many schools have filled their quota, another thing to remember is that the PMS at a school will review all the applicants that list their school, they will put a check mark next to each name stating one of three things.

3 year AD
4 year
No Scholarship (Or something like that)

Many time the applicants do not know which one they check unless the PMS tells them. This can also be a reason that a transfer does not go through, or as someone else stated, the battalion had reached the number of cadets they want from the National Board. They may still have slots available but they want to offer those in house once they see who they've got.

I didn't realize that. Thank you. Guess DS was lucky to get a 3 year to three schools from the third board.
