I am a 16 year old female, Junior in high school, wishing to serve my country as an Army Officer. I only found out I wanted to take this path about 6 months ago. I don't have the money to afford college on my own, and I'm super unsure about USMA. I honestly do not think they will accept me with my stats, and I'm not even sure that is where I want to go to college. I am, however, interested in VMI and the Citadel.
Here are my stats. They really aren't where they need to be, and that's because I was a completely different person for the past few years. But I was wondering if I still have a chance.
*GPA: 3.68 (will hopefully be 3.7 by end of junior year)
*ACT: 22, got this score WITHOUT studying. Currently studying for June and should score a 24-27.
*SAT: Taking in May.
*Have taken mostly Honors classes for all of HS. Hoping to take an AP class senior year.
*Sports: I have not played any sports during high school. I attend an online public school, so playing team sports is sort of hard. I'm hoping to play some type of sport within my community by Fall of 2016. Not sure if that will count on my application by that time.
I DO, however, do CrossFit and have been for 2+ years. I compete every few months in local competitions. I am very passionate about it, and I am currently training to ace my PT test by Fall.
*Library volunteer 2011-2014, Student Council Member (2016-present), NHS Member and NHS Secretary (2015-present), Peer Tutor (2016-present), Beta Club Member (2016-present), Yearbook Team Member (2014-2015), Member of Christian youth group & church (2014-present), Planned and currently leading a PE class for homeschooled children (2016-present)
*Work: Chick-fil-A Team Member (2015-2016), Underage Tobacco Details w/the Georgia Dept. of Revenue (2015-present), Childcare for Classical Conversations homeschool group (2014-2015), general Childcare/babysitting (2013-present)
So, that's about it currently. I'm going to try to do a team sport within my community in Fall, and also possibly join my local Civil Air Patrol squadron. I know I am not the best, and I honestly wish I would've done more during the past few years. I definitely would've, had I known this would be the path I ended up choosing. Thank you in advance for your replies. Have a wonderful day!
