Inform your cadre as soon as possible. They are not anti-USAFA. You will want them to support you for a ROTC nomination. Make sure you max your PFA. Take the most aggressive academic schedule you can handle. Find out if they give the AFOQT to freshmen, if so, use the summer to do the practice tests.
Mainly be open minded. Many HS students swear they will re-apply as freshmen, but never do because they come to realize that AFROTC at their college is the perfect fit for them.
