My son's nomination is listed twice on USNA portal. Each has a different date--2 days apart. Any idea why or what this might mean?

Two openings and therefore the MOC submitted two slates.

Same thing happened for us at USMA. Our MOC also happens to be new to office.

So, two slates are submitted by the MOC. What does this mean? What if one nomination has a number 1 next to it, and the other has a number 4? (they're from the same MOC)

This happened to me for West Point. It means that your congressman/congresswoman has you listed in two slates instead one. Essentially that probably means the congressman operates under a competitive slate.

So, does the number next to the nomination mean the place that you took on the slate?(for examlple, #1 means that you're first on the list?) It's happening to me (West Point). I'm hoping for an appointment this year.

Mine only says "MA07" for two separate dates, which I found out I'm in two slates.

Any way good luck! I myself have two nominations(2 slates) and a nomination from one of my senators! I'm just sitting back and waiting.

Thanks! Good luck to you too! Hope to see you at R-Day.

I have two slots from the Resident Commissioner, and one from the Governor of PR. So I think that makes 3 (if we're not mistaken in regards with the slots)
I guess its all up to the dreaded WAITING GAME. Thanks for the help btw

Unless you are told by the MOC, you won't know how their slates are. It could be they submitted two identical slates, either ranked or unranked. Or they could of mixed up the names or ranking. Maybe they used a principal method and had two different names at the top. Won't know that from the portal.

Felix, if I remember correctly you are from PR. Your mom situation is slightly different. Normally the noms on the portals and numbering has nothing to do with winning slates or anything like that. It just designated sources, etc.

So that means he didn't even have 10 candidates apply for a NOM? Our congressman is not new by the way.

A MOC can only have 5 cadets at the Academy at one time (charged to that MOC). If one or more leave the academy, either through graduation or attrition, then the MOC may choose to nominate more than one slate. As stated above, the slate could be any combination of competitive, nominative, full slate (10), partial slate (<10), identical slate, different slate. Bottom line is that you were probably nominated twice by the same MOC and twice is better than once. Doesn't guarantee anything, but gives you one more look prior to the NWL selections.
