I know the academy superscores your SAT/ACT grades, but my question is should i report all of my test grades (up to now) so that I may be able to open an application and get started with all the paperwork, and report my higher test grades as they come in?

Send them all

It can't hurt you. Take it 1 or 20 times. They will only look and use your super score. There are lots of course (some free) that give techniques and advice on how best to study and take the SAT and ACT.

You should take both SAT and ACT as some people do better on one than the other.

There are some pretty good videos on youtube that give advice on taking the tests and working the problems. One that my son found helpful and I actually used their techniques and was able to get the correct answers much faster every time, is "Mindfish".

They have about 20 videos for math and english. They work real test questions that can be found in the blue official SAT study guide. Heads-up though....they post them to try and get you to buy their program. I think it is about $350. I am not endorsing their program, but after just watching the free videos, working the problems and using their techniques on his last SAT test, my son raised his math test score by over 100 points.

Good luck. Study (take practice tests) and take the tests as many times as you can until you are happy with your scores.

"What scores are good..."

Actually that's as superb question. Unfortunately the answer...you won't like.

"It Depends."

Each person/candidate is different. And the "entire package" is what is scored, not just the SAT/ACT scores. So what might be a great score for one person might be "ho hum" for another.

I tell my candidates...if your ACT scores are in the 30's...you're very competitive. If your SAT scores are in the 700's...same answer.

Anything below that...keep shooting for higher! FYI...in 18 years of being an ALO, I have told precisely 3 candidates "your scores are fine, DO NOT take another test...focus on the rest of your package."

Those candidates had:
800M, 780V
35 ACT composite
790M, 760V

Yes, I'm a bit "demanding?" No, not really...I just remember how many times I took the SAT/ACT in high school (12 times) and I didn't make it until after a year at prep school.

If you can afford to take the test more than once...go for it!
