I wasn't able to take my SAT and ACT because the coronavirus canceled them. I know that on the USAFA admissions page it says to just use your PSAT scores and then update your scores once I am able to take my actual tests. Since I didn't do very well on my PSAT should I just wait to turn in my Pre Candidate questionnaire in August with my SAT/ACT score or is that waiting too long? I am just worried about them seeing that I didn't have the best PSAT scores and it affecting my application. Thank you!

I didn't even open my application until mid-September...submitted by mid-January and received appointment to the Class of '24 on January 29.

Well, I'm no expert, but I was similarly worried. I've seen nothing to suggest filling out the PCQ earlier is better, so I'd say it depends on how bad your PSAT score was. They'll send you a note telling you if your pre-candidate application was in the ballpark. That said, I would probably recommend waiting if you think it'll give you better chances, and honestly waiting will only help you because you'll have longer to complete the application (rolling deadlines and all). Again though, there could be consequences I'm unaware of, also consider that you won't know if you've made candidate-status until later if you wait.

Hey Airbud, when you say "they opened it up for me" do you mean that the Air Force Academy allowed you to begin your paper work process?

Yes they did my application is open and I have started
Just for reference's sake, when do you have to submit your application since it opened? Also, when people have their application open does that mean you'll have to submit it by December 31st? I've seen that people who started their application later like in September submitted their application Mid-January. Is that true?

Does anybody has 1000 score on their SAT test and got their paperwork?

Sorry it took me so long to see this. I have to submit certain things by November 1st not the whole application. My test scores are not due until January. The academy has a rolling deadline which means they give you 4 months from when they open your application to turn in certain things. I hope this helps:)

Appreciate that. I guess my 1,000 score is not good enough, and I will take the test to get better score. Thanks for your info Airbud123
