DS had a conversation with a FF rep and was disappointed to learn how WP views the new SAT test, because his real score is not what he thought it was. This is just an FYI to applicants that whatever your score is on the SAT, WP views it as a lower score because the new SAT is easier than the old SAT. For example if your portal shows 1400 it is actually 1340 according to the Concordance table used by Admissions. The Concordance table is published by the College Board themselves showing what the real score should be. I’m just throwing this out there because we had no idea!

Since all of the candidates are taking the same SAT, I'm not sure how this matters except in comparing current scores to "back in the day" scores. Since the class is made up of candidates who currently take the test, the scoring between candidates is as valid as ever.

Yes but many value historical USMA class statistics to gauge your competitiveness, can't do now without adjusting.

I think your FF Rep may be slightly out of touch. EVERYONE is taking the same SAT. There should be no candidates applying with the previous version of the SAT. The Old SAT went away in March 2016. Those scores would no longer be valid for consideration by admissions.

The median (or was it 'average') SAT score for the class of 2021 was 1249.

Again, some people treat the FF Rep like they are total insiders. I think there is great variability.

This was from a conversation DS had with the FF State Coordinator so I don’t think he is out of touch, he is extremely knowledgeable about the admissions process. It happened when my DS questioned the SAT scores as a mistake because DS knew they were higher, that’s when DS was given the explanation regarding concordance with the old test.

Possibly scores from the old test are still accepted for college or enlisted applicants. If so, one would think USMA would convert the old scores to the new test - but there is the right way, the wrong way, and the military way.

Regardless, all candidates scores are evaluated on the same scale, whether it is the old or new scale.
