Our DS is a USNA applicant for Class of 2027. Playing the waiting game like many others. Tremendous all around Student-Athlete as are many others here. He struggled with the ACT but scored a 1280 on his SAT. Anyone with information or experience on qualifying scores or know of appointments coming for applicants with scores in this range?

According to numbers I have seen (not official) - 1280 would be the bottom 25% of appointments.

It comes down to competition. Are there others on your DS slate with a much better score and also like your son with activities, sports, leadership, GPA, class rank etc.

Thank you for the response. Our hope is that his class rank #7 and his GPA 4.1 along with his leadership and community service will pull him up and garner the coveted appointment.

We know someone in the fleet now that had a high 1100s and got NAPS and then went through USNA and now she is a SWO (LTJG). We also know a mid who is at USNA now who got direct appointment with low 1200. Yes, test scores count for a lot and are important, and obviously high test sores on top of everything else are a great help, but there are SO many other factors (CFA score, class rank, transcripts, sports, leadership, etc) that go into the decision that we all don’t know about and it depends on what they are looking for to build a class.

Just an FYI. This is from class of 2025. Not sure why 2026 is not posted yet.
