SAT score

My son took the SAT, and is very happy with his score. However, he took the version without the essay. So he will obviously need to take it again with essay to apply to USMA. My question is, will he still be able to use his non-essay test results for superscoring purposes? USMA accepted his non-essay test for SLE and notified him that he will need to take the essay version for his actual application. It wasn't clear if the test he already took would be considered at all. He got an 800 in math, and I'm not sure the odds of him doing the same the next time around. He would hate to see this score not get recognized.

West Point superscores. You can officially submit as many separate tests as you like, and they will take the highest score from each part. I've taken the ACT three times, but only once with writing, and submitted my test with writing and the better of the other two. You only need to take the essay once, and if you're happy with your scores you don't have to take it again. Each test does not have to have a writing score to be considered.
